When fiction meets reality
‘Game of Thrones‘ stars Kit Harington and Rose Leslie are engaged. The couple confirmed in an official announcement published Wednesday in the Times newspaper.
The pair started dating after meeting on the set of the fantasy drama show in 2012. They have done their utmost to keep their relationship as private as possible since then.
They made their first public appearance together last year and recently hit headlines after moving into a $2.3 million 15th century pad in England’s East Anglia county in January.
In June, Harington appeared on ‘The Late Late Show With James Corden‘ and said he had moved in with his “other best friend, Rose.”
“So, I’m very, very happy and it’s going well,” he said. “She has all sorts of ideas for the house.”
Nicole Kidman was also a guest on the show that night and asked Harington if he and Leslie were going to get married.
“I just think it’s kind of nice if you’re going to live together. Maybe to at least get engaged,” Kidman said.
“I’ve been put on the spot by Nicole Kidman,” Harington said. “I mean, it’s step by step, step by step.”
Unlike Jon Snow, Harington clearly knows something.

Such a love story
Kit previously opened up about how easy it was to fall in love with Rose, whose character Ygritte was killed off ‘Game of Thrones‘ in season four.
Asked about his favorite memory of shooting the series during an interview with L’Uomo Vogue last year, Kit replied:
“The three weeks in Iceland where we shot the second season… because the country is beautiful, the light of the North magic, and why it was there that I fell in love.”
“If you are attracted to a person and in fiction is your love interest, it becomes easy to fall in love…”
He also said in a separate interview with Esquire magazine that his decision to remain silent about the romance was an attempt to be respectful, adding,
“It’s as much her relationship as it is mine and I can’t speak for both of us. But yeah, we are very, very happy.”
Rose concurred during an interview with Britain’s Daily Telegraph newspaper that she’s also “very happy” in her relationship with Kit, who she called a “great man”.
Leslie left the cast of ‘Game of Thrones’ in 2014 and currently stars in the political drama ‘The Good Fight,’ according to BBC News. Harington continues to star in ‘Game of Thrones,’ which is set to begin filming its eighth and final season next month.
