Actress Reese Witherspoon and her husband Jim Toth are now divorced. The couple in a joint statement on Friday announced that they had agreed to go their separate ways amicably. They announced their divorce on Friday, but Sunday is their 12-year wedding anniversary. They requested privacy as they finalize their divorce, Fox News reports.
“It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce,” Witherspoon posted on Instagram. “We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness, and mutual respect for everything we have created together. Our biggest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter. These matters are never easy and are extremely personal.”
The newly divorced married in 2011 and have a son, 10-year-old Tennessee. Witherspoon also shares two children – daughter Ava, 23, and son Deacon, 19 – with former husband Ryan Phillippe. Witherspoon and Toth celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary in 2021 and the movie star expressed so much love for her husband back then.
“Celebrating 10 years of marriage to my sweet hubby,” she had written back then. “What a special day with all of our dear friends. Looking back, I can’t believe it has gone so quickly! I guess that’s how it goes with 3 kids, Big LOVE, lots of laughing, non-stop travel, so many dogs, and fun adventures… figuring out this crazy world together. Here’s to many more days in the sun! I [heart emoji] you, JT.”
Inside sources said Witherspoon’s busy schedule as an actress and frequent travels were responsible for her divorce. Sources said they had been managing to salvage their home since last year and that Toth hardly spent time with her as a result of this issue.
“Reese is always on the move,” the insider revealed. “She’s the kind of woman who bounces off the walls, whereas Jim is a placid dude. The hecticness that surrounds Reese is a lot and sometimes hard to handle. Jim is hardly ever with her and it wasn’t always like that. Friends are worried that they’ve stopped putting the work in.”
Witherspoon starred in “Legally Blonde,” “Big Little Lies,” “Sweet Home Alabama,” and “Little Fires Everywhere” among others.
