Prison sources reveal that Lori Loughlin may have experienced a nervous breakdown in her first few days in prison. A source revealed that the actress went to prison with the emotional support of friends and family and was gearing up to do her time and be out in no time, but prison may have presented a few surprises the actress is finding hard to come to terms with.
Another source told the magazine that the Fuller House actress, 56, had entered the prison system with all bravery she could muster. Still, things seem to be a little different behind those walls, and Loughlin is dreading every day of it.
The CW actress had reported to the Dublin facility earlier than expected and had high hopes of securing release before Christmas. Loughlin had initially requested to serve her time at the federal correctional facility in Victorville, California. However, she chose the Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin, California, due to the lower COVID-19 numbers. It is also the same facility where Felicity Huffman served her 11-day sentence for the same crime.
Lori Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, were arrested in March 2019 due to a nationwide college scandal. They were accused of paying $500,000 to guarantee their daughters’ admission to the University of Southern California. They had paid a college consultant the said sum to get their two daughters admitted to the university as crew recruit even though neither participated in the sport, Fox News reports.
After a year of denial and the legal battle that ensued, the couple pleaded guilty to the offenses in a plea bargain deal. Loughlin was sentenced to two months in federal prison, two years of supervised release, 100 hours of community service, and a fine of $150,000. Loughlin had broken down during proceedings that were held virtually. She accepted her failings and promised to do better to redeem herself.
Her husband was sentenced to five months in prison, a $250,000 fine, and two years of supervised release with 250 hours of community service. He is expected to serve his time at The Federal Correctional Institution, Lompoc.
When Loughlin’s role in the nationwide scandal became known publicly in 2019, she lost her roles on both Netflix’s Fuller House and Hallmark’s When Calls the Heart.
