Last weekend, the American rapper, songwriter, and actor, Wiz Khalifa attended to the 2017 Stereo Picnic. The alternative music and cultural entertainment festival held every year in the city of Bogota, Colombia. This year Khalifa was present in the event.
What Colombian weren’t expecting was Khalifa to visit the grave of the founder and leader of the Medellín Cartel, Pablo Escobar. And much less that he left a small but representative detail to the deceased. Which has caused much stir among the Colombian people.
A technical stop.
Last March 26, rapper Wiz Khalifa decided to make one technical stop to visit the grave of the Colombian drug trafficker Pablo Escobar. While there the American took some pictures of himself smoking what is presumably something other than a cigarette. So, what the celebrity thought that was something fun, ended up becoming an international incident.
Instagram photo sparked controversy
As if it was not enough, the rapper uploaded to his Instagram stories a photo where everyone could see a joint next to the stone of the notorious cocaine kingpin, who was gunned down by authorities in 1993. The pictures also had a message that said “smoking wit Pablo,” to what Medellin Mayor Federico Gutierrez, responded by claiming “it shows that this guy has never had to suffer from the violence inflicted by these drug traffickers.”

The rapper is not allowed to return to Colombia.
The Mayor also suggested that, instead of bringing flowers to Escobar’s grave, the American rapper should have placed flowers on the graves of the thousands of victims of Escobar’s reign of violence during the 1980s and early 1990s. Gutierrez resolutions were to ban the songwriter whom he described as “a scoundrel” to return to the country until he apologizes.
