‘Glee’ alum Naya Rivera was charged with domestic battery over the weekend. The actress was in West Virginia spending the holiday when the domestic dispute happened.
She was released on Saturday. However, if Rivera’s convicted of these current charges, she faces a maximum sentence of 12 months in jail and a $500 fine.
Charged with battery
After an alleged altercation with her husband Ryan Forsey, actress Naya Rivera was charged in Kanawha County, West Virginia, over the Thanksgiving weekend.
The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office released a statement detailing the situation when on November 25, police answered to a receipt of a domestic violence complaint.
“When he arrived he spoke with Ryan Keith Dorsey who said his wife, Naya Marie Rivera (30 years old of Woodland Hills, CA), struck him in the head and face, ” read the statement.
“The Deputy saw minor injuries consistent with his statement. Mr. Dorsey showed Deputies a video made during the incident, which also supported Mr. Dorsey’s account of the incident.”
The actress was arrested and charged with domestic battery. The police booked her and then took her to Kanawha County Magistrate Court.
She was arraigned and her bond was set before she was released on a $1,000 bond. She was picked up by Dorsey’s father.

Turmoiled relationship
This isn’t the first time the couple has had some type of drama. Last November, Rivera announced that she filed for divorce.
“After much consideration, we have made the decision to end our marriage. Our priority is and always will be our beautiful son that we share together, ” she said.
“We will continue to be great co-parenting partners for him. We ask for respect and privacy for our family during this difficult time.”
“It is what it is, but I’m glad that my family is together,” she said, adding that it was “a personal decision.”
The couple met in 2010 and dated for a brief period before splitting. A few weeks later, she discovered that she was pregnant with his child, and decided to get an abortion.
“When I made that decision [to have an abortion], I made it by myself, as I feel is the case for a lot of women, and I did not share it with Ryan at the time,” Rivera wrote in her 2016 memoir ‘Sorry Not Sorry’.
They rekindled in 2013 after Rivera split from rapper Big Sean.
The couple married in a secret ceremony in Mexico in 2014, just three months after getting back together, and welcomed their son in September 2015.
