Mindy Kaling Confirms She's Expecting A Baby Girl

Mindy Kaling confirmed she’s very much pregnant on the ‘Ellen DeGeneres Show’ on Friday. After much anticipation and rumors, the writer and actress confirmed she’s expecting a baby girl.

Mindy is set to hit the big screen alongside Oprah Winfrey and Reese Witherspoon in the film ‘A Wrinkle in Time.’ She’s also coming back to Hulu for the last season of ‘The Mindy Kaling Project.’

Mindy Kaling finally addressed those pregnancy rumors on Ellen this Friday and confirmed she’s expecting a baby girl due to soon.

“I’m carrying a child! I’m very, very pregnant,” Mindy told Ellen.

The actress then opened up to Ellen about how the whole pregnancy experience has been for her and then shared the baby gender with Ellen.

“I’m not waiting, I wanted to know way early. I’m having a girl. So excited about it,” she said.

Rumors of Mindy being pregnant started circulating back in July, followed by co-star Oprah Winfrey spelling the beans during an interview.

Mindy discussed with Ellen about the baby announcement accidentally made by the one and only Oprah.

“I had told Oprah and Reese [Witherspoon] on a movie we’re working on, ‘A Wrinkle in Time,’ and she announced it to the press,” Mindy told Ellen.

“She was very excited.”

Instead of being mad about Winfrey spilling the beans, though, Mindy felt no choice but to be honored, after all, is Oprah Winfrey.

“If anyone is going to announce big news about your private life, Oprah Winfrey is the person.”

“You can’t complain that much about it. And you also can’t be like, ‘Hey, Oprah, zip it’ because she’s almost like a religious figure,” she added.

“So if there’s one person I have to tell my daughter about that revealed her existence to the world, Oprah is pretty good.”

And the baby news by Oprah is not the only funny experience Mindy had with the TV mogul. The actress recalled an experience during their time filming ‘A Wrinkle in Time‘ in New Zealand.

“I felt so lucky to be able to go [to New Zealand]. But I’m not very outdoorsy. And New Zealand is just outdoors,” Mindy joked.

“Their thing there is that there are streams are so clean, the water is so clean, you can drink from it just like that, with your hand.”

So Mindy decided to have her very own stream drinking outdoorsy experience only to meet a funny reaction by Oprah. While she had what she recalled a “beautiful and amazing” experience, Oprah was not impressed.

“And Oprah looks over at me and goes, ‘that’s how one of my dogs died’.”
