Miley Cyrus New Single ‘Malibu’ Is Everything We’ve Waiting For And She Knows It

The Single Will Give You Some Serious #RelationshipGoals

Miley Cyrus is back with new music, new look, new marketing strategy but the same old humorous persona.

On Thursday, May 11, the singer from Tennessee released her highly anticipated single “Malibu” with an accompanying music video. In the visual, Cyrus is seen dancing around on a beach, laying on the sand, smiling, hugging her dog Emu, and looking more balanced and calmed that she’s ever been in a long time. Of course, her engagement ring is probably her most notable accessory.

The song is basically about her romance with her fiancé Liam Hemsworth. Lately, the couple has been inseparable. But what really catches your attention are the final verses. She’s not talking just about how happy she is in her relationship. She’s actually speaking out about the new changes she’s been experiencing and how she’s feeling about herself and her music.

“We are just like the waves that flow back and forth / Sometimes I feel like I’m drowning and you’re there to save me and I want to thank you with all of my heart / It’s a brand new start / A dream come true / In Malibu,” she sings.

Days before releasing the single, she said in an interview that she has been sober for weeks, and enjoys hanging out with sober people as well. “I like to surround myself with people that make me want to get better, more evolved, open. And I was noticing, it’s not the people that are stoned,” the singer said.

Her unannounced appearance at ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’

She first appeared on Monday, May 16 at ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ as a surprise visit during the host’s opening monolog. In the middle of Fallon’s surprise, she explained that she would be taking over NBC shows all day long on Wednesday, May 17 to promote the new single.

The ‘Miley Malibu Takeover’ started early on Wednesday on the ‘Today Show’

As part of her strategy to promote “Malibu,” the singer presented the so-called ‘Miley Malibu Takeover,’ a plan that consists on crashing the NBC studios in New York City to talk about her single in as many shows as she can.

Wednesday arrived and Cyrus kicked off her takeover on the ‘Today Show,’ where she sat in the control room to briefly chat with the show’s cast. Besides mentioning that her new single was out, she discussed a bit of her music and announced that she’ll be visiting them once again next week for the ‘Today Show’s Citi Concert Series with the whole Cyrus clan.

The singer also made a special appearance on a segment with the ‘Today’ co-anchors featuring Charlie the puppy, a rescue dog trained to guide people towards alarms, or in this case, a ringing phone. Cyrus really seemed to enjoy the stunt – and of course, the puppy.

Later, Cyrus joined the ‘Today’s ‘Ultimate Cook-Off’ segment as an assistance to Rocker to judge between two special salads. She took the chance to show off her cooking skills, as well.

Don’t miss Miley girl fanning ‘Access Hollywood’

Returning to her venture, Cyrus was spotted outside the ‘Access Hollywood’ set, pretending to be a fan. She was standing in the crowd, holding a bunch of balloons – making reference to the single’s video – and a huge sign in which she wrote, “Get My New Single Malibu Out Now!!!”

Hosts Natalie Morales and Kit Hoover interviewed her about the new song and her appearance at the ‘Today’ show.

The singer gave Jimmy Fallon another visit

On Wednesday ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,’ the host received #HashtagThePanda, who came unannounced, but got along with it and let the panda dance. Fallon did notice something strange on #HashtagThePanda, only to find out it was Cyrus wearing the suit, surprising him once again. She did a quick promotion of “Malibu,” but took her time leaving the stage with some crazy dance moves.

Final stop: ‘Late Night With Seth Meyers’

As the ‘Miley Malibu Takeover’ was coming to an end, she made her last appearance on ‘Late Night With Seth Meyers,’ serving as conductor of the ‘Late Night’ band. For the special occasion, the band played an instrumental version of “Malibu,” terminating Cyrus great prowess.
