Watch Mark Zuckerberg React To His Harvard Acceptance #TBT

A Young Mark Zuckerberg Receives His Harvard Acceptance Letter And We Are Dying Of Cuteness

Facebook’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, shared a video on Thursday, that captured his reaction to when he learned he would be attending Harvard University. The video is a funny throwback to old school technology days by the hands of one of the minds that have contributed the most to social media and connections as we now nowadays.

Teenage Zuckerberg is quite excited

Mark Zuckerberg graced us on Thursday with a look at his good old teenage days, which were filled with pijamas and hours looking at his computer screen.

Facebook’s CEO shared a video taken by his father Edward, which captures the moment he first learns he would be attending Harvard. The video shows a pyjama dressed Zuckerberg, with his signature grey t-shirt,  sitting on his bed and checking his email.

You can listen how he asks his dad to put away the camera but Edward refuses to do it, and thank god for that.

Then Zuckerberg opens the email from Harvard and offers his not so excited response, a muted “Yay.” Followed by a fist bump as the father says, “OK, we are now focusing on the newest — or one of the newest — members of Harvard’s class of 2006.”

In the video, you can also get a glimpse at Zuckerberg’s childhood dog, Coconut, a West Highland terrier, sitting in between two computer monitors.

The video offers a funny and quick trip to the old days as you can listen the sound of an old school modem as Zuckerberg loads up his Windows PC.

“My dad took this video when I got accepted to Harvard,” the caption read. “Next week I’m going back for commencement to get my degree. #tbt”

In the comments thread below the video, Zuckerberg pokes fun at his “old-school” desktop computer and reveals that his mother bets him that he’d drop out. In a comment, Zuckerberg added, “Before I went to college, my mom bet me I’d drop out and my younger sister bet me she’d finish college before me. I bet them I’d get a degree. Now I suppose the cycle is complete.

How times have changed for Mark

Turns out Mark’s mom was actually right, and her son dropped out of Harvard before receiving any qualifications. However, he did extremely well, and Harvard actually took part of his success. He launched the first version of his social network in his dorm room in February 2004.By 2012 he has one billion users and was reportedly worth $55 billion.

Zuckerberg is set to deliver a commencement speech at Harvard this week, at the university’s 366th Commencement on May 25. He’s also expected to receive an honorary degree.

“Mark Zuckerberg’s leadership has profoundly altered the nature of social engagement worldwide. Few inventions in modern times can rival Facebook in its far-reaching impact on how people around the globe interact with one another,” said Harvard President Drew Faust. “And few individuals can rival Mark Zuckerberg in his drive to change our world through the innovative use of technology, as well as his commitment to advance science, enhance education, and expand opportunity through the pursuit of philanthropy.”
