Music and art are both universal languages, and that is because they can speak to everybody in a different way. Songs have a different meaning for anyone. But this guy took some verses from classics and took them way too literal, giving them a snappy twist. The artist is an Icelandic “artoonist”, as he calls himself, named Hugleikur Dagsson. He previously featured in our article about “Dark Humor Cartoons”
He decided to ironically interpret in his simple drawing style what these classic songs mean for him. Taking 50’s holidays songs, going through rock anthems, to modern pop music. He published a book series with this and more drawings with this topic called “Popular Hits”. His humor might hurt someone’s sensitivity since sometimes it can get graphic or gory, but hey that is life. But even if you’re one of those annoying political correct people, you will admit that the twist this guy puts in his drawings are incredibly smart. And it would sketch at least a little smile from time to time.
