Gene Wilder was one of the most amazing actors in history. I can personally say he was a huge part of my childhood. Not only he gave us a lifetime worth of memories, but he taught us more than we could ever be able to thank.
The Willy Wonka protagonist enjoyed comedy, acting and most of all, he loved his wife deeply. Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, and The Producers are one few of the productions he starred in, shining as bright as most of us will ever dream. Will and Grace was his last acting debut, as he appeared in a series of episodes back in 2003. Funny About Love and Silver Streak also got to have a cast member as good as Gene.
Wilder also enjoyed writing and wrote a memorable collection of novels as he wrote a memoir, Kiss Me Like a Stranger: My Search for Love and Art, that was published in 2005.
The Blazing Saddles celebrity had been married to Radner, Mary Mercier, and Mary Joan Schutz before he met and tied the rope with his better half, Karen Boyer, who stayed by his side until today. Gene was a very love devoted man and cherished his relationships more than you could even imagine.
Alzheimer’s Disease took over him in 1989 and he’d been struggling with some complications. He had not lost his ability to recognize his close relatives, and he was very lucid, and his family says that “he simply couldn’t bear the idea of one less smile in the world”, that’s why they decided to put an end to a long-time suffering.
At the age of 83, Gene lost his life, and we lost a legend, but we are confident he will endure in our minds and hearts forever.
We give you 25 Gene Wilder quotes that will definitely remind you of his indisputable legacy, some are from his historically astonishing films, and some are real life thoughts.
