Timbaland and Swizz Beatz are having a singing competition on Instagram at 8 pm EST. The co-founders of Verzuz and music producers already have thousands of their fans excited after promoting the face-off for more than a week on social media, Complex reports.
Timbaland and Swizz Beatz had a face-off that lasted for five hours on March 24 and this is their second match. Both producers came before a huge crowd and spoke briefly about their careers and successes before kick-starting the show. They also dedicated the rematch to DMX and Aaliyah who was very close to Timbaland – both Aaliyah and DMX are now deceased.
“Y’all should feel great, excited,” Timbaland greeted the audience when he mounted the stage. “We outta play a bunch of hits. Matter of fact, too many hits. I can’t even count.”
Since their March meeting, both Timbaland and Beatz had created new songs, and Beatz had recently released DMX’s posthumous album titled Exodus. The album featured Griselda, Jay-Z, and Nas in a few songs. But at their rematch at the weekend, Timbaland sang some of Missy Elliot’s and Hov’s songs while Beatz did justice to some of Angie Stone’s and X’s songs.
Both producers also worked on hit tracks by Aaliyah, DMX, JAY-Z, Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, Nicki Minaj, J. Cole, Drake, Lil Wayne, and others. Before the weekend rematch, Missy Elliott had posted a short video to congratulate Beatz and Timbaland on their competition.
Timbaland and Swizz Beatz both created and owned Verzuz but sold it off to Triller in March this year. Artists who featured in the series were given shares from the acquisition.
