Given that Kim Kardashian has filed divorce papers against third husband Kanye West, new facts have emerged regarding the details of the divorce proceedings. One of the major facts is that either Kim or Kanye shall not be able to request spousal support from each other, and the second fact is that an existing prenuptial agreement states that the properties and liabilities of each spouse remain that of each party in the event of a divorce.
The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star documented “irreconcilable differences” as the major factor behind the divorce. While Kim filed the divorce papers about two weeks ago, the actual date of separation between her and her estranged husband is stated as “to be determined” in the court filing.
Considering that Kim requested that the rights of each party to access spousal support be terminated, it shows that the reality star is not willing to receive monetary support from Kanye in any way after the divorce goes through. The prenuptial agreement between the soon-to-be-divorced couple also means that the massive fortunes of the couple will not be a subject of dispute since each party’s assets and liabilities remain their own in the event of a divorce.
However, 40-year-old Kim who had earlier married Damon Thomas and Chris Humphries are requesting to have joint and legal custody of North, 7; Saint, 5; Chicago, 3; and Psalm 1 with 43-year-old Kanye. Kim divorced Thomas in 2004 after four years of marriage to the music producer and also divorced Humphries in 2013 after only 72 days of marriage to the basketball professional.
Celebrity divorce attorney Laura Wasser had helped with her two earlier divorces and is also helping with this third divorce.
Internal sources have cited various reasons for the falling apart of the celebrity couple. Some claimed that the involvement of Kanye in politics drove a wedge between the couple and others said the flamboyant lifestyle of Kim was the main problem between them. A few said their palatial Calabasas home is to blame and yet some said Kanye’s unexpected appearance at Kim’s birthday was the problem.
Yet, Kim appears to be strained by the mental health problem of her husband and the fact that Kanye does not get along so well with her family. Kanye on the other hand accused his wife of infidelity with rapper Meek Mill while the former presidential aspirant also alleged that his wife almost aborted their last baby.
Kim and Kanye started dating in 2012 and got married in 2014 at a lavish wedding ceremony in Italy.
