Prince William’s wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, said she can’t wait to meet her new niece, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, the daughter of Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex. Lady Catherine told reporters at the G7 world summit in Cornwall, UK, that she looks forward to meeting with “Lili” very soon, the BBC reports.
The latest addition to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex was named after Prince Harry’s mother, Princess Diana who was the Princess of Wales, and Queen Elizabeth who is Harry’s grandmother. Interestingly enough, Prince William’s daughter Charlotte also has Elizabeth and Diana as her middle names in honor of her grandmother and great-grandmother.
The Duchess of Cambridge and the wife of the US president, Dr. Jill Biden, met for the first time and toured a Cornish school where they talked about early years development for school children. Catherine and Biden spoke to pupils of the Connor Downs Academy in Hayle and even brought carrots for the pet rabbits at the school which only teaches children aged 4 to 11.
Asked by journalists if she had met Lilibet or even spoken to the Duchess of Sussex after the birth of their baby, Catherine said she hadn’t spoken with Meghan or met with Lilibet since her birth.
“We haven’t met her yet,” she said. “I hope that will be soon. I can’t wait to meet her. I wish her all the very best.”
The fact that Catherine and William are part of the G7 event indicates that they are fast rising as senior royals in the United Kingdom. They also joined the Duchess of Cornwall and the Prince of Wales to host the G7 and some CEOs of the biggest corporations in the world at a reception.
Dr. Jill Biden was an educationist and this informed her decision to tour some Cornwall schools with the Duchess of Cambridge. Biden, 70, was a professor of English when her husband was vice-president of Barack Obama, and she obtained her doctorate of education from the University of Delaware. She said that teaching is not only in her blood, she said that teaching is what she is.
