‘Shameless’ actress Emmy Rossum and Mr. Robot creator, Sam Esmail, got married on Memorial Day weekend. The ceremony was filled with cute moment and memories. However, people can’t stop talking about Emmy’s beautiful and mindblowing dress.
Emmy Rossum looked mesmerizing as a bride
Rossum tied the knot with Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail, in New York City on Sunday. Rossum said “I do” in a custom gown designed by Carolina Herrera. The embroidered, off-the-shoulder gown with a sweeping train and long lacy dress, was totally a showstopper and made Emmy’s important day even more magical.
This isn’t the first time Emmy wears Carolina Herrera’s designs, the actress made quite an appearance last May on the Met Gala wearing the Venezuelan designer.Herrera has previously worked off the bridal looks of celebrities like Hilary Rhoda, Olivia Palermo, Christina Hendricks, and Cynthia Nixon.
The pair came together to bring the beautiful dress alive and considered all the factors.
Since the ceremony was at a “quite grand temple,” Central Synagogue, followed by a reception at the Guggenheim Museum, the glamour factor didn’t have to be reigned in at all: “we knew that it needed to be a dress that could hold up to [the venues],” Rossum told Vogue.
In fact, the dress was giving lots of talks even before the wedding. Vogue published photos from the actress’ final dress fitting.
“Mrs. Herrera is such a joy to work with. She knows exactly what is chic and classic, and I trust her implicitly,” Emmy told the magazine. “The shape and the overlays on the bodice feel really modern to me at the same time as the scale and overall silhouette feels traditional.”
Emmy added that the dress’ silhouette was inspired by the Guggenheim Museum’s architecture. On the other hand, Carolina said she wanted to highlight Emmy’s décolletage with the off-shoulder element. “It suits her because she has a very long neck and very beautiful shoulders—it’s very demure, [she looks] like a real bride.”
It was totally magical.
Let’s talk about the lovely ceremony

Guests included cast members of Shameless and Mr., Robot, including stars William H. Macy, Shanola Hampton, Rami Malek, Christian Slater and Carly Chaikin. Also attending were film stars Robert Downey Jr. and Hilary Swank.
“We’ve been together a LONG time! We are blessed to share in one another’s huge life chapters! Thank God for this family! #Shamelessfamily#babygirlismarried,” Shanola captioned a series of Instagram pics.
During the ceremony, Shameless co-stars Emmy Rossum and William H. Macy, a.k.a Fiona and Frank shared a moment that has fans gushing. The partners and buddies, who play father and daughter on the hit Showtime show, shared an adorable dance very unlike their characters on Shameless.
Emmy and Sam shared the news of their wedding on Monday, posting the pics on Instagram. The pair had announced their engagement back in 2015 after dating for two years. The duo met when Sam directed his now wife in the 2014 film, ‘Comet’.
Memorial weekend was filled with weddings. Australian model Miranda Kerr married Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel on Sunday. The couple married at their home in Brentwood, California after announcing the engagement back in July.
Also, Lost star Maggie Grace and Brent Bushnell got married in California, on Sunday.
Shameless new season
Last December, Showtime’s ‘Shameless’ was renewed for an eighth season. The premiere date is yet to be confirmed, tho the production began in May.
The renewal followed a contract dispute over equal pay with star Emmy Rossum. The network wanted to renew the show, but could not proceed until resolving Rossum’s salary, which was a point of contention because Rossum wasn’t only asking for parity with Macy, but more.
During Vulture Festival panel in NYC, which both Emmy and William attended, they discussed Emmy’s fight for equal pay.
“It’s unconscionable they would pay a woman less for the same job,” William told the panel. “It shows biz’s job to get us for as cheaply as they can — and our job to say no.”
Over the years, Emmy’s character has become the center of the show, and she anchors the show equally alongside William. Emmy added, “I just felt that I love the show, I love everyone in it, I want to keep doing it, but I just wanted it to feel right.”
The Shameless’ salary dispute follows House of Cards‘ similar dispute. In the early months of 2016, House of Cards actress Robing Wright attempted to earn the same compensation as her co-star Kevin Spacey.
