Alsina has given answers to his fans

In 2014, August Alsina collapsed on stage during a live show in New York. Alsina seemed to faint and toppled over into the crowd. After arriving at the hospital, it was reported that he suffered several seizures and was in a coma for the following three days. He talked very little about the incident afterward. It was believed that the cause was exhaustion and dehydration. Obviously, all of this worried his fans and everyone who knew him.

Recently Alsina took his Instagram account to publish two video clips to clear the air. In a sit-down interview, August Alsina spoke openly and candidly about his private battle with a disease that led him to that horrible stage. Since it’s something that had been affecting his liver. He also talked about his initial reaction and expressed the desire to hide the disease from fans and friends. As he didn’t want to be treated differently than he had been before.

Alsina’s statement on Instagram

Alsina posted the videos of the interview on Instagram. Along with the explanation of why he did what he did, how he felt and asking forgiveness from his fans. He also said that he will keep on fighting

“I have a liver disease where my autoimmune system is fighting against itself. Reality is I’m sick all the time. I’d really like to talk about it and I’m not looking for anybody’s sympathy. Don’t treat me like I’m a f–king cancer patient because I’m not. Please excuse my defense mechanism in this clip,” Alsina captioned the video.

I’m sicker than ever and having a hard time accepting what I feel and what the Doctors are saying is most true. After sitting down and talking with my father’s mother and sister. They explained to me that sickness and illness run in my family. My father and grandfather both died of severe illness. But they were FIGHTERS and that’s all that matters. Just ride with me is all I ask”. Also, Pinkett posted her close and personal feels toward the artist. Since she lived something similar due to the death of her close friend Tupac Shakur. Posting: “Through you, I’ve been able to close some open wounds that were left in regards to my relationship with ‘Pac”.

What’s the rapper suffering from

The liver disease Alsina briefly described most closely resembles autoimmune hepatitis. Its existence as a chronic disease means it can’t be cured. That has a genetic or hereditary character, according to the American Liver Foundation. Like most hepatitis strains, autoimmune hepatitis affects the liver. It does so by turning the body’s own immune system against the liver, as Alsina explained in his statement. Where the autoimmune system is supposed to attack dangerous cells that don’t belong in the body but instead it attacks the cells of the own liver. Causing the problems and the organ to inflamed.

Also, some of the symptoms are fatigue and mental confusion. Something that explains Alsina’s collapse at his 2014. In the worst case scenario, it can lead to cirrhosis and catastrophic liver failure. The treatment for Alsina’s condition is only accomplished through medications that block the immune system from attacking the liver. Meaning that it’s something that Alsina simply will have to live with over the years. Some patients suffer from autoimmune hepatitis for life, but unfortunately, the medications used to treat it have their own life-altering side effects.

Personal details and posture

Obviously, Alsina’s fight is certainly a personal one. Making sense with the posture he had. Along with many other, personal and difficult life situations that had an influence over his silence. In the interview with Smith, he revealed as well that alongside the disease he felt that “sadness and depression” were a part of his life. Especially due to the death of his brother in a shooting and the drug addiction of his stepfather. Problems that logically he also hid from the public eye.

Still, this new interview where August Alsina could finally speak with someone about the ongoing problems he had been fighting behind the scene answered a lot of questions about the singer. Especially regarding his health state and to know what has been going on with him over the past years.
