“When we flew, we saw all the blue tarpaulins on the roofs. It indicates that the roofs have not yet been repaired,” said Lopez.
Jlo touched the deepest part of the heart of a local citizen, who cried after telling him he would receive some help funds after living with a hole in the roof. There’s still no electricity or gateway since the hurricane swept it. “We had high hopes that he would be more advanced than he is. There is still a lot of work to be done.”
“I woke up and cried looking at social networks,” Rodriguez said. “[One] thing is to raise money, the other thing is to fly there. Feeling the warmth of the people, see the beauty of this island.”
The couple also had time to get some good vibes aside from financial aid. They danced a bit with “resilient” locals. Even toured a women’s health center. A visit that had a special meaning for Rodriguez.
“I come from a single mother and I know how difficult it is to be a single mother with two brothers,” he shared. “She took care of all three of us. Had two jobs. Jennifer has about 10 jobs and she’s the best mother I’ve ever met.”
