A Vanity Fair journalist, Devin Gordon, has accidentally discovered that tech billionaire Elon Musk has a secret child. Gordon found out the truth while interviewing Musk’s estranged partner and girlfriend, Claire Boucher, popularly known as Grimes. The journalist was interviewing Grimes in her home when he heard the baby crying upstairs.
Musk and Grimes had a baby boy whom they named X in May 2020. The world didn’t know of another baby between the two until Gordon accidentally found out. Grimes reluctantly agreed that they had another baby named Exa Dark Sideræl Musk or Y through surrogacy in December 2021.
“Do you have another baby in your life, Grimes,” Gordon had ventured when he had Y crying upstairs?
“I’m not at liberty to speak on these things,” Grimes had answered reluctantly. “Whatever is going on with family stuff, I just feel like kids need to stay out of it.”
She added without being prompted that Musk had taken X out and that the boy was his protégé. “I mean, I think E is really seeing him as a protégé and bringing him to everything and stuff… X is out there. His situation is like that. But, yeah, I don’t know.”
While it is on record that Musk has five other children – all males – Grimes said they look forward to more children, maybe 3 or 4. The 33-year-old singer said they opted for surrogacy because the last pregnancy she had was difficult, and she kept passing out. She said she suffered a constant hemorrhage and feared for her life.
During the course of the interview with Gordon, Grimes mentioned rather casually that Musk said he will be going to Mars in 10 years – maybe for a tour or residential relocation remains unknown. Funny enough, she said she sees X as Paul Atreides and herself as mother Jessica in the movie Dune.
Grimes and Musk announced they were separated in September last year, and the tech billionaire confirmed this via a tweet in December that he was “single.” But Grimes said they remain very close and that she considers Musk her boyfriend given the depth of their closeness despite their publicized split.
“There’s no real word for it,” she said. “I would probably refer to him as my boyfriend, but we’re very fluid. We live in separate houses. We’re best friends. We see each other all the time…we just have our own thing going on, and I don’t expect other people to understand it. This is the best it’s ever been. We just need to be free.”
