The ‘Mom’ Star Then Kissed Kate On The Lips

Kate Winslet kissed Allison Janney at the Hollywood Film Awards on Sunday night. The actresses shared the smooch during Winslet’s acceptance speech.

The Hollywood Film Awards were hosted by James Corden and celebrated at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles.

Surprise smooch on a big night

Kate Winslet and Allison Janney surprised fans with a kiss onstage at the 21st Annual Hollywood Film Awards.

The British actress was accepting the Hollywood actress award for her performance Woody Allen’s ‘Wonder Wheel’ presented by her ‘Divergent’ co-star Shailene Woodley.

In her acceptance speech, Kate was addressing and congratulating her contemporaries and then referred to Allison Janney, who also took home an award for her supporting role in ‘I, Tonya’

“Allison Janney is in this room. I know I don’t really know you, but I just want to be you, I do.” She said to Allison, who was seated in the audience.

“Or just stroke you or something … I mean, we could always kiss, maybe?”

To what Allison hopped out of her seat and ran to the stage and Kate said, “Oh, it’s going to happen!”

The ‘Mom’ star then kissed Kate on the lips and gave her a hug as the audience cheered.

“Thank you very much,” Kate said. “Now I’m a little bit breathless.”

In a career spanning over two decades, Kate Winslet has won one of each Oscar, Grammy, and Emmy, also four Golden Globe awards and three BAFTAs among many others.

This year she was seen in ‘The Mountain Between Us’ and ‘Wonder Wheel.’

Earlier this year, director James Cameron announced he’d reunite with Kate in their upcoming films are ‘Avatar 2.‘ She’ll also appear on ‘Mary and the Witch’s Flower’, in which she gives voice the character of Madame Mumblechook.

Star-studded night filled with honors

The glamorous event celebrated on Sunday is considered a forecaster to the Oscars, which take place early next year. It also saw the likes of Amy Adams, Viola Davis, Harrison Ford and Carey Mulligan also in attendance,

“We are here to celebrate the craft of cinema, the expertise and excellence that all of you put in to create truly moving stories,” host James Corden started his monologue at the 21st annual event.

“And who better to do that than me, the voice of Hi-5 from ‘The Emoji Movie’?”

The star-studded celebration saw Gary Oldman honored with the major prize of the night, the Hollywood career achievement award.

“I began my career almost 40 years ago. At every juncture, some significant person or turn of fate pushed me along,” he told the audience.

“Like many of you here, we all show up to make something grander than real life, and perhaps just maybe to find something of a truth in it. It’s indeed a very special way to make a living.”

Standing ovation for the amazing actor

The actor, who recently starred in ‘Darkest Hour,’ received a standing ovation while being honored with the prestigious award.

Oldman, who sported a Winston Churchill pin on his suit jacket, told reporters on the carpet that he hopes Churchill’s attributes of “determination, perseverance, and acting with moral certainty” resonate with audiences.

Other presenters and honorees in attendance included Amy Adams, Annette Bening, Dakota Johnson, Eva Longoria, Melissa McCarthy, Vince Vaughn, Shailene Woodley, James Franco, and Dave Franco.

Actor Jake Gyllenhaal gave a moving speech while accepting an actor award for her role on ‘Stronger,‘ where he plays real-life Boston Marathon bombing survivor.

“I’m standing up here tonight pretty damn grateful to be receiving this award. Because I was given the opportunity. Actually, the honor, to portray the life of an extraordinary human,” Gyllenhaal told the crowd.

“I guess that’s how it works as an actor. Sometimes you get lucky to play someone that you could never be.”

“For me, swimming in his energy has opened me up too. He’s reordered my priorities. Opened my heart, taught me lessons that I didn’t know that I had to learn,” he added of Bauman. Who in real life has become Jake’s pal and friend.

Other Honorees that made the list

Other honorees included Angelina Jolie and Loung Ung for ‘First They Killed My Father.’ Actor Dustin Hoffman presented his co-star Adam Sandler with comedy award for the Netflix filmThe Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected),’ and Sean “Diddy” Combs, who took home the documentary award for ‘Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop: A Bad Boy Story.’

Breakout performers were previously announced including Timothee Chalamet for ‘Call Me By Your Name’ and Mary J. Blige for ‘Mudbound.’

During the show, Common and Andra Day performed ‘Stand Up for Something’ from the movie ‘Marshall,’ which nabbed a song award.

Finally, host James Corden ended the ceremony addressing the mass shooting that took place earlier Sunday at a church in Texas.

“It would be remiss of me not to mention the people in Sutherland Springs in Texas. All of those who have been affected by the senseless acts of violence,” he said.

“On behalf of everybody involved in the Hollywood Film Awards, our thoughts are with everybody tonight.”
