Justin Timberlake Is Allegedly Performing At Super Bowl Halftime

Jay-Z Already Turned Down The Gig

Justin Timberlake is reportedly finalizing a deal to perform at the 2018 Super Bowl. Reports say the pop singer is in talks for the anticipated show after Jay-Z turned down the gig.

This wouldn’t be JT’s first time in a Super Bowl halftime show. The singer previously performed nearly fourteen years ago. However, this could be his chance for redemption at the show after the infamous wardrobe malfunction in 2004.

It’s almost a wrap

According to reports, Justin Timberlake is “finalizing” a deal to perform the halftime show at this year’s Super Bowl. The NFL championship is set to take place in Minneapolis on February 4.

While Jay-Z was rumored to join Timberlake onstage at Super Bowl LII in Minneapolis on Feb. 4, the most recent report suggests the 36-year-old singer and actor will perform solo.

Timberlake appeared in the 2017 Super Bowl in an ad for Bai Antioxidant Infusion water. Throwing it back to his ‘NSync days with a customized rendition of the hit ‘Bye Bye Bye.’

It also shouldn’t be forgotten that Justin is also planning to release a new album in 2018. He already teased fans with his smash hit ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling’ last summer.

Super Bowl is traditionally the biggest event of the US sporting calendar. The commercial spots rank among the most sought-after real estate in advertising.

Just as popular is the half-time show that always features the world’s hottest performing artists.

Lady Gaga headlined this year’s event. While Coldplay, Beyonce and Bruno Mars starred in 2016, and Katy Perry, Lenny Kravitz, and Missy Elliott performed in 2015.

If he is confirmed, Timberlake, who first starred in 2001, would become only the second artist to make three appearances, behind Latin superstar Gloria Estefan (1992, 95, 99).

The NFL has yet to confirm next year’s Super Bowl performer.

“We know that we will put on a spectacular show,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

“When it is time to announce her name we will do it. Or his name. Or their names.”

An announcement expected to be made by the month’s end.

Redeeming himself

Timberlake’s expected appearance will evoke memories of the 2004 halftime performance in Houston when he pulled part of Jackson’s leather costume off while singing ‘Rock Your Body,’ exposing one of her breasts.

Timberlake apologized at the Grammys that same year. Calling the act “unintentional” and “completely regrettable.”

The risqué reveal prompted the Federal Communications Commission to require a five-second delay for all Super Bowl halftime shows, which has been in place since 2004.
