Rachel is the first African-American lead bachelorette, a casting which will finally drag The Bachelorette franchise into the twenty-first century in terms of reflecting our awesomely diverse country. The news of Rachel being cast as the next Bachelorette was learned back in February. When The show’s creator, Mike Feiss, hinted the news in a Tweet.

“I have just received approval to make a historic announcement in the coming days regarding #TheBachelor !!!,” he tweeted.

And the franchise was more than ready to go for it, beginning a huge promotion that got us all excited.

During the “After the Final Rose” special of The Bachelor, Rachel was surprised with four of the men competing for her heart next season. While some of the exchanges were downright awkward, some men had some real chemistry with the Bachelorette. She then went on a group date with six of the men on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Just as The Bachelorette season 13 premieres, seems like this time Rachel gets proposed.

The new Bachelorette confirmed during a conference call this week that she’s engaged. “I am getting my happy ending!” she said.

“It was not an easy decision,” she says. “It was a lot harder than I thought (and) exhausting physically and emotionally,” she added.

However, Lindsay didn’t reveal any details about the groom-to-be.So viewers can start playing the guessing game Monday as more than two dozen men appear at the front of the Bachelor mansion hoping to receive a rose.

What we know about Rachel:

We obviously saw her in Nick Viall’s season, and yes, she was a fan favorite and a total #GirlBoss.

Rachel is a thirty-two-year-old Dallas attorney, she works at the firm Cooper &Scully, where she was recently named “One to Watch” by the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers.

The committed attorney is a devoted dog mom. Her Instagram is filled with pictures of Copper Ash, a two-year-old rescued pup which is a mix between a Finnish Spitz and German Shepherd as you can read on her Instagram.

Rachel is a sports fan and loves to work out. She also loves hanging with her friends and in fact remains close with her former Bachelor roomies, Whitney Fransway, Alexis “Shark/Dolphin Girl” Waters, Sarah Vendaland and Astrid Loch.

The Bachelorette opened up about being cast for the show.  “First black Bachelorette, say it again!” Lindsay cheered during a chat in Los Angeles in March, where she spent the day on a date.

“I’m honored to be chosen to be the one to do it. I just don’t want (race) to be something that’s my recurring theme of my entire journey,” she says.

“I’m a black woman and I’m so happy to represent myself in that respect, but I don’t want it to be something that defines me and my journey for love,” she says. “I definitely don’t mind talking about it and addressing it.”

She also opened up about what she likes in a man and what she doesn’t.  “I do not like a cocky guy. I like a confident guy. You can toe the line just a little bit, but I cannot stand a cocky guy,” the 32-year-old said.

She also does not have time for drama and would have none of it as well as pettiness and cattiness. “I’ll just deal with situations as they come to me, so if guys come to me about a villain in the house, I’ll be aware of it, my antennas will be up but I’m not going to feed into it too much,” she said.

The suitors are already making headlines

According to reports, this season Bachelorette’s contestants are actually a lot more diverse. According to Rachel, since she’s among the oldest bachelorettes the network made her dating pool slighty older than avergae and with professional backgrounds, from doctors to models.

However, a thing that hasn’t change is the contestants’ abilities to wave around red flags in their bios. And a huge red flag already waved.

One of the contestants from the upcmng show already caused controversy. Bryce Powers caused the blacklash of people when he gave his thoughts on dating on the ABC website.  Asked what his biggest date fear is, Bryce replied: ‘The chick is actually a dude.’

ABC removed his comments form the website, however people on Twitter were not having it.
