Miley Cyrus Talks About Getting Clean And Reinventing Herself With Brand New Music

It Seems She’s Going Back To Her Roots

Miley Cyrus is reinventing herself and her music. In a Billboard interview, the singer opened up about her new life, her evolution and how it translates to her music.

Miley is about to drop a new record and we’ll have the first taste of her new sound on May 11, with the track Malibu.

The queen of metamorphosis is back: from Hannah Montana to Weed Queen to Country all over

Miley has, without a question, offer some of the most radical changes in the showbusiness world. From Disney girl to kitsch queen in 2013, she’s ready to show us yet another evolution as she finally comes to terms with herself.

During an interview with Billboard on Wednesday, the singer shared her thoughts on her new change and how this obeys to her wish to do better.

Miley, who hasn’t smoked weed in weeks said, “I like to surround myself with people that make me want to get better, more evolved, open. And I was noticing, it’s not the people that are stoned. I want to be super clear and sharp because I know exactly where I want to be.”

The 24-year-old singer said that evolution for her started by surrounding with normal people, “I love talking to people, and I approach them in a normal, ‘Don’t treat me different, ’cause I’m not’ way. That’s what started this evolution for me, getting out of my Dead Petz phase.”

Miley’s most DIY album to date

Miley wrote the lyrics and melodies of the new album, which is yet to be titled. The album which is less political and more personal mixes quiet acoustic and epic pop. According to her father: “This is Miley leaning into her roots more than I’ve ever heard.”

This comes as Miley is trying to reach other out, specifically to cultivate country fans. This is also part of what moved her to join The Voice, where she shared with co-star Blake Shelton.

She said, “I don’t think those people are going to listen to me when I’m sitting there in nipple pasties, you know? I have to ask myself, ‘How am I going to create real change? And not just f***ing preach to the choir anymore.”

With the new album, Cyrus hopes to reach the other side of the aisle. “This record is a reflection of the fact that yes, I don’t give a fuck, but right now is not a time to not give a fuck about people,” she says. “I’m giving the world a hug and saying, ‘Hey, look. We’re good — I love you.’ And I hope you can say you love me back.”

Miley’s album is coming later this year and the singer is releasing a new track called Malibu on May 11. The song is about her fiancee, Aussie Liam Hemsworth, and is nothing like she’s written before.

“I never would’ve believed you if three years ago you told me I’d be here writing this song,” she said and could either refer to her music or to her relationship as the couple broke up in 2013 and rekindled last year.
