Marvel’s Pannel At Comic-Con Was Filled With Surprises

New Announces Regarding Thor, Ant Man And Other Universes Were Announced.

Marvel rocked Comic-Con this weekend with a star studded panel full of big news. While the company didn’t unveil many trailers, it did unveil news posters and exciting information.

Whether you can’t wait for ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ news or just want a sneak peek of ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ on the big screen, there was something for everyone to get excited over.

Big names for a tiny hero

Marvel knows how to rock Hall H at Comic-Con like no other company or studio. And when it comes to pimping their new movies, they do it with style and comedy. Case in point? Kicking off the panel this year with ‘Ant-Man And The Wasp’s Paul Rudd and Michael Pena hilariously recapping the MCU to date.

The movie is currently filming in Atlanta, and therefore, Marvel Entertainment president Kevin Feige made some major casting announcements, like Michelle Pfieffer joining the cast.

With former Batman Michael Keaton swooping into ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ as the Vulture, it might make sense that his Catwoman, Michelle Pfeiffer, joins the Marvel world as well, being cast as Janet van Dyne.

In case you don’t know, Janet Van Dyke is the wife to Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym and mother of Evangeline Lilly’s Hope van Dyne. For those who remember, Janet was hinted at in 2015’s ‘Ant-Man’, with her whereabouts being unknown, so this either means that Van Dyne will be appearing in present-day or in some sort of flashback.

It was also announced that Laurence Fishburne had been cast in the film as Bill Foster, who comic fans might remember as Black Goliath, who had powers that mirrored Hank Pym’s. Other cast announcements include, Hannah John-Kamen will be playing Ghost. Walter Goggins will be playing Sonny Burch. Randall Park will be playing Jimmy Woo.

The panel also revealed a new logo and some concept art from the Ant-Man sequel which will once again be starring Paul Rudd

‘Ant-Man & Wasp’, which is due in theaters on July 6, 2018.

What about Thor?

A second trailer for ‘Thor: Ragnarok’  was debuted, which features Thor and The Hulk having a “Battle of the Champions.” Thor also appears be teaming up with Loki in the action-packed film. Cate Blanchett’s villain Hela also makes a striking appearance in the trailer. A new poster was also unveiled. During the panel, Hemsworth spoke about making a third ‘Thor’ film.

“If we’re going to make a third film we really have to push the envelope and experiment take it to another level so that is what this film was,” he said. “Cut his hair, break his hammer, change his clothes, change the world. I think that’s what you’re going to see and be excited about.”

As for what is going on with Tom Hiddleston‘s character Loki, the Brit said at the panel,

“Well it’s been four years and if you saw ‘Thor: The Dark World’, you will know Loki is on the throne pretending to be Odin… Thor comes down and things are a little different…” he said.

“Loki’s allegiance has always been slightly unpredictable and he’s still the god of mischief and what his part is in all that—you’ll just have to wait and see.”

The film’s lead Chadwick Boseman discussed his character at the panel, explaining,

“He’s returning from the events of civil war. He lost his father. He’s just learning how to deal with becoming a new ruler and he’s still mourning his father’s death. It’s a transition period that gets interrupted very quickly.”

Letitia Wright, who stars as Shuri, spoke about her character, “She’s the technological wiz.. designs all the technology. She’s a scientist. She was like a dream role to play, inspirational. Innovative. Just a strong black woman. And smart!, ” she said.

The actress also went on explaining how great was playing this role. “It was just beautiful to play that so I’m excited for you guys to see what Shuri is going to bring.”

Marvel also released a new poster for Black Panther, which hits theaters on February 16, 2018.

As for Brie Larson’s star movie ‘Captain Marvel,’ the panel announced that the movie will be set in the ’90s before the first ‘Iron Man’ movie took place. Another announcement was the Skrulls as the main villain, making this the first time that the Skrulls will be brought to life theatrically.
