The 2017 Glamour Women of the Year Awards Include Nicole Kidman and Gigi Hadid

The Event Also Encourages Feminism And Women’s Endeavors

Glamour Women of the Year Awards were celebrated on Monday night. The night saw personalities such as Nicole Kidman, Gigi Hadid, and Solange Knowles recognition.

For 27 years, Glamour’s Women of the Year Awards has honored game changers, rule breakers, and trailblazers. The event also encourages feminism and women’s endeavors.

2017 Women of the Year

The 2017 Glamour Women of the Year Awards was full of diversity and exceptional winners. Including supermodel Gigi Hadid, astronaut Peggy Whitson, Congresswoman Maxine Waters, Syrian refugee Muzoon Almellehan, and Oscar winner Nicole Kidman.

This year’s ceremony felt particularly relevant in the wake of Women’s March on Washington earlier this year. Also, the recent headline slew of sexual assault stories.

This year’s acceptance speeches were particularly political with Nicole Kidman praising and highlighting diversity. Congresswoman Maxine Waters calling President Trump “dangerous,” and model Gigi Hadid recalling her Palestinian heritage.

Hadid, who was granted the Supernova Award, accepted the award and dedicated a heartfelt speech to her parents. She told the world that her Palestinian father, Mohamad Hadid, was a refugee at one point.

Despite his struggles, he worked very hard to “make his dreams come true”. A characteristic that she carries with her every day in her career.

“To my amazing family whose spiritual and emotional support of me through my life has been my backbone… My dad who was a refugee from Palestine,” Hadid said during her speech before the audience broke into applause.

“I’m so grateful for the life that you gave me and that you always taught me your work ethic.”

The 2017 Women of the Year Awards was made even more poignant as it marked Cindi Leive’s last turn at the awards as Glamour’s editor in chief.

Continuing on her work

Gigi Hadid is quite celebrated these days. The Supernova Award at the Glamour Women Of The Year Awards earlier this week. She’s running for Model of the Year for the second consecutive year at the British Fashion Awards next month.

However, that’s no reason for her to stop working. She launched her second show collection for designer Stuart Weitzman on Tuesday.

“This style represents our commitment to building three additional schools with Pencils of Promise. An organization dedicated to making quality education accessible to kids everywhere,” she said of the collection.

Their first collaboration saw the creation of the ‘Gigi Boot’, which was a total success and helped give back to a very good cause, Pencils Of Promise. A charity that provides life-changing education to poverty-stricken places.
