Fergie Opens Open About Her Separation From Josh Duhamel

She Got Very Emotional On ‘The Wendy Williams Show’

Fergie opened up about her separation from Josh Duhamel on ‘The Wendy Williams Show.’ The singer got emotional when she was asked about their split and said she would have stayed married “forever.”

Last month, Fergie released her new album ‘Double Duchess’ premiering new visuals

Emotional interview

During an appearance on ‘The Wendy Williams Show’ which airs on Thursday, Fergie got emotional while discussing her split from actor Josh Duhamel.

“It wasn’t my plan. I wanted to stay married forever,” Fergie said before elaborating on the pair’s co-parenting.

“I love Josh, he’s the father of my child, we forever have that project together and we’re doing the best we can,” she told Williams.

After getting emotional, she said: “You made me cry. Like two minutes in, you’re getting me tearing up.”

The pair began dating in 2004 following Fergie’s appearance on his show ‘Las Vegas.’ They got engaged in 2007 and married in 2009 in Malibu, California.

Last month, they released a joint statement announcing they were splitting after 13 years together.

“With absolute love and respect we decided to separate as a couple earlier this year,” it read.

“To give our family the best opportunity to adjust, we wanted to keep this a private matter before sharing it with the public.”

In an interview to People last month, Fergie admitted it was getting uncomfortable discussing their marriage in interviews when they had privately split.

“Honestly, it was just getting a little weird for us with all the romantic questions,” she said.

“We’re great friends, we love each other so much. It just got to the point where it was getting a little weird. There’s no perfect time so we just decided to do it.”

The pair reportedly called it quits in February but only recently announced their relationship status.

United front

Since announcing their split last month, the couple has made a point to show a united front in public for the sake of their little boy, and luckily it doesn’t seem like that will be changing anytime soon.

In a September interview with Entertainment Tonight, Fergie said they’re still pretty tight.

“We’re great friends, Josh and I. There’s so much love that we have for each other. We really like each other, we have fun with each other. We’re just not a romantic couple anymore,” she said.

“But we are still Axl’s parents through and through, and our families — each other’s families, the cousins, my nieces, and nephews — it’s all the same. So that’s the only thing that’s changed.”

Earlier this week, on an appearance on ‘The Talk’ the singer elaborated on life after divorce.

“I’m good, as good as you can be with a separation. The good thing is we don’t lose each other as parents,” she said.

“All of our cousins are still cousins. Everything basically is staying the same, except we’re not a romantic couple anymore,” she continued.

“I love Josh. We’re making it work. We’re both working full time right now.”

“We are just making it happen. We’ve got Axl and we’re just working parents,” she added.

Delivering a wild new visual album

Fergie debuted her long-expected solo artist return after 11 years of her ‘The Duchess’ solo debut. And while it’s a long time to wait, the singer delivered quite a comeback.

“I always knew I would make a second album, I just didn’t know when” Fergie said.

In a Rolling Stone interview, the singer revealed she first started working on her sophomore album when her son Axl was about one year old.

Fergie gave quite a thought and plotted a continuation of ‘The Duchess both lyrically and musically.

“Dutchess introduced who I was as a person,” Fergie said.

“In Black Eyed Peas, I’m just the girl in Black Eyed Peas; Dutchess was a way to let you in a bit. On this record, I was able to go even deeper, to go straight to the emotions.”

She went on explaining the process of creating the album and said:

“It’s like building a house. You can do it fast and cheap, but it’s not gonna be good. I’m not trying to act like I’m not trying on this one. There was a lot of blood, sweat, and tears.”

However, she wasn’t set for just delivering an emotionally charged album but decided to also release a video for every song.

To do so, she recruited famous directors, including Åkerlund, which credits include Beyoncé and Metallica, and Alek Keshishian, who’s worked with Madonna, and high-powered pals – Kim Kardashian, Ciara and Chrissy Teigen in ‘M.I.L.F. $’ last year. And more recently she teamed up with Kendall Jenner in ‘Enchanté (Carine)’ to deliver a high fashion mesmerizing video.
