The trailer of Troian Bellisario’s very first movie is out, and it’s so intense and so important. The actress stars the movie and also wrote the script. Feed is based on Bellisario’s battle with her eating disorder and will hit theaters this summer.
Bellisario’s film starts with a very intense trailer
Sony Picture unveiled the intense first trailer for the upcoming film ‘Feed,’ that will premiere on May 30. In the film, the Pretty Little Liars alum stars along with Tom Felton. The story follows Olivia and Matthew Grey, 18-year-old twins who were born into a world of privilege and high expectations.
But as they prepare for their last year of school and the many opportunities that await them, a tragedy splits them apart. One twin will have to learn to live without their other half — or perhaps, test how far they’ll go to bring their sibling back. The first trailer is a bit creepy and maybe weird but is definitely a story worth watching. The trailer gives a little introduction to Olivia’s struggle which eventually becomes an eating disorder.
The film also stars James Remar and was directed by Tommy Bertelsen. Bellisario serves not only as lead character and producer of the film but also penned the script. ‘Feed’ will be available on VOD and digital platforms July 18th.
Troian opens up about her eating disorder
For the Pretty Little Liars alum, writing the film was rather a personal experience since she took her own eating disorder battle to pen the script.The actress recently opened up about it for Interview Magazine to Pretty Little Liars director Lesli Linka Glatter.
“There was this emptiness in me that I wanted to, not fill, but engage,” she tells Interview of how her eating disorder fueled her early drive to act.“I felt like there was a story in me that hadn’t been told, and it was a very personal story.”
Bellisario also addressed the impetuous for penning ‘Feed’, sharing “If I can tell a story that puts the audience in a position to make a similar choice to the one that I made in my young life, maybe I could get them to empathize.” Though exploring the disorder for the film was really hard, the actress wanted the film to really give people an insight into the heartwrenching disorder.
“One of the things I really wanted the film to explore was that once you have this relationship, once you have this mental illness or this disease, it never really goes away.”
Unfortunately, eating disorders are complex to experience and almost impossible to explain to people who have never had them. Perhaps, this movie helps drawing attention to the much-needed conversation.
