Colton Hayes made his acting comeback this week and opened up about some serious issues. The actor said this week that he pretended to date famous women to hide his sexuality during his early career.
The ‘Arrow’ alum has been a roller coaster lately, he got engaged in the cutest proposal ever.
Colton was forced to remain in the closet by his manager
Nowadays, Colton Hayes is out, proud and super happy with the love of his life. But a few years ago he struggled with the anxiety that came from being forced into the closet, by his management.
On Monday, the Teen Wolf star told Andy Cohen during a Sirius XM radio chat. That his team tried to set him up with women to distract the media from learning the truth about his sexuality. The actor said that he was told from day one to keep in the closet, “I was literally told from the day that I moved to Los Angeles that I could not be gay because I wouldn’t work,” he said.
“Then I was with my management team and a team of people that just literally told me I couldn’t be this way. They tried to set me up with girls,” he said. Colton also said that his management even made rumors of him dating ‘The Hills’ star, Lauren Conrad, for six months in the early days of his career.
The actor publicly came out as gay in May 2016, after months of speculation. In the September issue of Out magazine, said that people in the industry took “advantage” of his desire to become an actor.”I really feel bad that I had to lie for so long,” the actor told the publication. “But I was told that was the only way I was going to be successful.”
“When you’re young in this industry, people take advantage of you, and they literally tell you that your dreams are going to come true,” he explained. “If you believe that, you’ll do anything.”
Hayes also revealed some pretty private info
On Monday’s interview on Sirius XM, Colton also shared other revelations. The actor opened up about his first time. Colton expressed that despite his management forcing him to stay in the closet, he’s been clear on his sexuality for years. And then shared the story of losing his virginity when he was a teen. “I lost my virginity at 13 to a girl and a guy,” he said but added that the experiences were separate. “I’ve never said that before. The girl was two years older than me, and the guy was, I would say, around 16…It was a real first time. It was exciting.”
However the experiences were on separate occasions, not at the same time, he revealed. Haynes did not elaborate on which came first but did reveal he has slept with four women in his life.

After a brief acting hiatus, Colton is back in the spotlight with his upcoming role in Rough Night, a dark comedy that shows how wrong things can go for a bachelorette party.
The film follows five best friends from college who reunite 10 years later for a wild bachelorette weekend in Miami. During their hard partying, they accidentally kill a male stripper. Amidst the craziness of trying to conceal their deed, they are ultimately brought closer together when it matters most. The film is directed by Lucia Aniello and it’s, in fact, her directorial debut. It was also written by Aniello and Paul W. Downs.
Colton stars the film along with Scarlett Johansson, Zoë Kravitz, Kate McKinnon, Jillian Bell and Ilana Glazer. The actor revealed that he’s often mistaken by singer Jesse McCartney, which is why when he first heard that he had landed the role in Rough Night he couldn’t believe it.
“I got offered … why? What? With Scarlett Johansson? What? Can you call them back and make sure they’re not looking for Jesse McCartney or someone else?” he said. However, Rough Night is not everything he’s been up to. Colton has had quite a rollercoaster since he came out as gay last year.
Colton got engaged to boyfriend and celebrity floral designer, Jeff Leatham, last March. And it was the cutest proposal ever, that even included a personal video from Cher. Leatham popped the question during a weekend getaway to Cabo and got the help from friends and family who also featured in the tender video.
The over the top proposal started with a personalized video message from Cher singing their favorite song ‘I Got You, Babe.’ Followed by messages from their family members and close friends — including Melanie Griffith, Serena Williams, Ally Maki, and much more.
The couple shared the cute moment via Instagram with fans as they were congratulated.
