Charlie Puth almost puked during his appearance on ‘The Late Late Show,’ on Wednesday. While the singer played a round of ‘Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts’ on the show he had to face the difficult decision of eating some disgusting dishes or answering uncomfortable questions.
Not a man with an iron stomach
‘The Late Late Show‘ iconic games made quite an impression on Charlie Puth. He may not be back again after an almost puking experience.
The singer played in a group game of ‘Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts’ alongside side Josh Gad, Rachel Bloom, Michelle Dockery and host James Corden.
In case you know nothing about the game, the rules are quite simple: answer an uncomfortable question or eat one of the wide arrays of truly disgusting “food” items in front of you.
Puth teamed up with Josh and Rachel to pit the Americans against the Brits. And then the fun began.
The singer was rather uncomfortable from the beginning and expressed his thoughts. The table was filled with items like cow tongue, jellyfish, grasshopper, a salmon and seaweed smoothie, and bird saliva.
“It’s just, I have a real — people who know me — I have a very, very sensitive stomach. I can’t even be around Brussel sprouts, much less this stuff,” he said.
Things only got worse as the game went on. Charlie was eventually forced to drink bird saliva and even eat a grasshopper when he decided not to answer who was a better singer between his past collaborators Selena Gomez and Meghan Trainor
“I think I can do this,” he said.
“I just don’t want to get the fandoms mad at me.”
Passing on a huge opportunity
Charlie Puth recently opened up about his decision of not to sit on the ‘American Idol‘ table anytime soon.
“The schedule got too overwhelming. It’s nothing to do with [the network]… ABC is wonderful and I told them I would love to be in business with them in the future,” he said.
The singer admitted he was in talks with the show some time ago. “Things in my life got crazy.” Meaning he had a rough year last year after getting sick and having to cancel the remaining dates on his ‘Don’t Talk Tour’.
But while he left the opportunity go, he considers the show is good to know now that Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan, plus original host Ryan Seacrest — are good to go.
“I can’t wait to watch it. It’s a huge honor that they asked me,” Puth said.
“The fact that they would even ask me to be a part of it is just beyond flattering because it’s a show I grew up watching,” he added, “and I know it’s going to be amazing without me.”
