Cat lovers behold: Cat paradise exists, and it’s in Hawaii! Yes, in case you needed an excuse to visit Hawaii, now you have it. From now on Hawaii is not a paradise just for humans, but for cats too!
Let me explain it to you, there’s a cat sanctuary with over 500 cats, and is also a petting zoo. I know, too much to digest, but so exciting. The Lanai Cat Sanctuary shelter is located in Lanai island. The Sanctuary shelters over 500 cats, that can get protection, food, shelter and also love from the caretakers. You can go there and spend a little time with these cats, who will be more than glad of sharing their love with you.
Two friends, Mike and Keoni, came out with the idea back in 2004.
At the beginning, the place started as a way to control the feline population on the island, and it turned into something amazing.
The main task was to sterilize the felines, but the idea quickly turned into a refuge.
And no wonder, can you imagine all those kitty eyes looking at you? So, they turned 25,000 square foot are into a home for stray cats.
So, now cats live freely inside the sanctuary.
They play, climb, take long sunbathes.
Most of the time they just relax.
By their own or with their visitors or caretakers.
Because they finally know what a home is, and they can feel safe.
The shelter quickly became a home for these cats, who suffered the consequences of the lack of resources in the island.
As you can see, the shelter is not like a regular shelter.
There are no cages, so cats can go off and explore the place, mostly they wander around the food place.
Or they can just pile on top of each other and look adorable.
Like these little kittens.
