Exciting news for Raven’s fans! More and more news and info about Disney Channel’s That’s So Raven follow-up. This week, the show announced the debut and is sooner than we expected.

The Mouse House also announced the return of an exciting member of the cast. Raven’s first love Devon Carter, will play the father of her children.

We got a release date!

Disney Channel’s That’s So Raven follow-up, Raven’s House will debut on an especially magical night. Raven’s House will debut on Friday, July 21 directly following the premiere of Disney Channel’s new movie, Descendant 2.

But that’s not it. In addition to the series premiere, on June 1st the Mouse House will launch all four seasons of That’s So Raven on the Disney Channel app. This will obviously help fans catch up.

Once fans have completed the binge the fun continues. They can test their knowledge with a series of games and quizzes. It’ll be available on the app beginning June 8.

Along with this cool news, Disney also revealed the cast. Turns out, Jonathan McDaniel who played Raven’s boyfriend Devon Carter on most of That’s So Raven will reprise his role and play the father of Raven’s children.

McDaniel joins the cast previously announced that includes Annelise Van Der Pol as Chelsea Daniels, Raven’s best friend.

The new cast members to the show are Issac Brown (black-ish, Miles from Tomorrowland) and Navia Robinson (Being Mary Jane) as Raven’s 11-year-old twins Booker and Nia. Also, Jason Maybaum (Superstore) takes on the role of Chelsea’s nine-year-old son Levi, and Sky Katz (America’s Got Talent) joins the cast as Tess, Nia’s best friend.

Additionally, the Mouse House unveiled an exclusive first look at the logo for Raven’s Home. And it’s pretty much a typographical homage to the original.

In case you were wondering, according to a Disney Channel rep, the series is pronounced possessively, rather than as an exclamation.

So, yes we’re talking about a house that belongs to Raven and not announcing that she’s home. After all, she’s all grown up and has a family on her own now.

Such an anticipated spin-off

Raven’s Home joins nostalgic revival series such as Fuller House and Girl Meets World. News about Raven hitting the screen once more surfaced last year.

Disney’s President and Chief Creative Officer, Gary Marsh, announced, “There is only one Raven – and for over 25 years, she has blessed audiences around the world with the greatest gift of all – the pure, unadulterated joy of laugh-out-loud funny. After being a part of over 20 different Disney projects, we are thrilled to be bringing Raven home to Disney Channel once again.”

This is actually not the first spin-off of That’s So Raven. If you’re a hardcore fan, then you will recall that Cory in the House, a spin-off featuring Kyle Massey, Raven’s little brother, aired on Disney Channel between 2007 and 2008.

However, Corey’s in the House lacked a very special ingredient, which is Raven. This time the spin-off brings back everybody’s favorite crazy psychic in a good adventure.

The synopsis reads as follows, “Raven still catches glimpses of the future but she’s not the only one in the family who does — Booker (played by Issac Ryan Brown) has the same ability. While Booker uses his newly found power to try and make sense of middle school and his new family life, Raven uses her power to help her be a better mom, a great fashion designer, and an awesome friend. Hilarity ensues as Raven and Booker’s visions collide, but no matter the situation, they figure everything out together as one big happy family.

It’s expected that the original cast will make appearances throughout the show.

Raven Symoné will serve as an executive producer on the show.  Longtime writer/producer partners Scott Thomas and Jed Elinoff (Disney Channel’s Best Friends Whenever, Emmy nominees for R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour) will also executive produce.

That’s So Raven is one of a kind

That’s So Raven was a huge hit for the network. The show premiered in 2003 and ran for four seasons and 100 episode. It won multiple NAACP Image Awards and Kids Choice Awards. The series also received a primetime Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Children’s Program category.

The original show followed the San Franciso high schooler and her supernatural powers. Raven used to get caught in the funniest situations always in the company of her friends.

The original series broke new ground, with Raven becoming the first African-American woman to her her name in a comedy series title. Raven soon became also the producer of the show, since it was a total hit.

That’s So Raven continues to be a success for the network. Nearly 10 years after airing its final episode, the series still delivered 1.057 million total viewers for its midnight telecasts on Disney Channel in 2016.
