On Monday, Justin Bieber’s representative announced the remaining dates of the ‘Purpose’ world Tour. In a statement, Bieber’s rep confirmed that a few concert dates wouldn’t take place. The cancellation was “due to unforeseen circumstances.”
While the news worried Beliebers, Justin has stated that everything’s alright and he just needs a break.
Bieber’s tour is over for now
Justin Bieber has been touring for the last 18 months, and on Monday announced that’s it for now. In statement, the star’s rep shared: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Justin Bieber will cancel the remainder of the Purpose World Tour concerts.”
“Justin loves his fans and hates to disappoint them. He thanks his fans for the incredible experience of the Purpose World Tour over last 18 months,” he continued. “However, after careful consideration, he has decided he will not be performing any further dates. Tickets will be refunded at point of purchase.”
With still 14 dates to wrap up the ‘Purpose’ tour, Bieber’s performances hace grossed almost $200 million. The headline-making tour kicked off on March 9, 2016, in Canada. Back in 2015, he announced the news he would be touring yet again during an appearance on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’.
The Purpose tour marked the Canadian pop star’s third world tour; the extended jaunt kicked off on March 9, 2016, in Seattle. Taking Bieber all over North America, Asia, Europe, Africa, and Latin America. It was set to end on Oct. 7 at the National Stadium in Singapore.
A much-needed break
Obviously, the news triggered a lot of speculation about the reasons behind the decision, but in reality, Bieber is overdue for a fair break. While his touring schedule wasn’t quite as jam-packed in 2017, he still was in a pretty heavy 18 months tour, and well, he’s just a human being.
Bieber’s last shows have been kind of unsupportive to him. In June, a concertgoer threw a water bottle at him in Stockholm when he refused to sing ‘Despacito.’During his dates in England, every time he tried to talk and open up to fans some just booed, to the point he said he’d limit to sing the songs.
Then, just days ago, after a fan inquired why he had no local shows coming up, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture stated that the “controversial young foreign singer” wasn’t welcome in China. So yes, he’s in for a break.
“Yeah, just resting, getting some relaxation. We’re gonna ride some bikes,” as he said in a TMZ video on Monday.
