‘The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,’ celebrated another amusing session of ‘Musical Genre Challenge.’ Taking place on Thursday night, the host joked this time with the talented Jamie Foxx.
The game – in which players hits a button to receive a song and style to sing – was taken to a whole new level by Foxx. The Oscar winner managed to give amazing performances to some challenging requests.
Take a look at the hilarious performances:
Turns out Jamie’s acting is just one of his talents:
The first to hit the button was Fallon, who took on The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face” as 50s crooner. To our surprise, the result was actually great, thanks to the amazing job of the show’s band The Roots.
Foxx followed and his first round was not easy. The ‘Baby Driver’ star was asked to perform Baha Men’s classic “Who Let the Dogs Out?” as a Broadway musical. And it turned out hilariously.
The Roots found the perfect piano melody, and Foxx knew exactly what to say to bring the musical mood to the song. He started with a monolog, saying, “You know, just the other day I was walking and I saw dogs and I was wondering to myself, ‘Where’d they come from? Somebody must have let them out.’” He finished his monolog to sing an over-dramatic chorus of the song.
When everyone thought he was done, he put the cherry on top, by giving closure to the performance with a final sung monolog: “Then I realized I knew who let those dogs out. Just above the ridge, I could see a vision and that vision, that vision was me.” Now, either that was previously rehearsed, or Foxx’s talent is beyond our understanding.
Foxx performed a magic rendition to “B*tch Better Have My Money”
Following Foxx’s suspiciously amazing performance, Fallon pressed the button and got“Bad and Boujee” as a 60’s rock. It was cool, but not as cool as Foxx’s next performance: “B*tch Better Have My Money” as an opera.
Holding his hand over one eye, emulating the Phantom of the Opera, the actor embraced his role as an opera singer. Transforming Rihanna’s hit into a romanticized performance that blew us up.
“Jamie Foxx is the most talented man on Earth,” Fallon said at the end of the game, and we couldn’t agree more.
