The Hollywood Sign Was Changed To Read “Hollyweed”

Hello 2017! You Are Looking Good.

If there is a place in the world you can and have to make it big is in Los Angeles. And especially in Hollywood. Since it’s not only where all the famous stars live. But is where both the movie and music industry meet.

Even though many things characterize this iconic place, nothing is more iconic than the “Hollywood” sing. Located in Mount Lee over watching the city of LA and adding just a bit more of that mystic aura that anything is possible.

What a start for 2017.

As the new year came in something really changed. Not only because people had a positive expectative of this year since 2016 sucked. But mainly because as Los Angeles woke up into 2017 someone had pulled the prank of the year already. By changing the “Hollywood” sing to “Hollyweed.”

How they pulled it.

According to Los Angeles PD, someone climbed the sign and used two tarps to change the letters. And turn the “O’s” into “E’s”. The LAPD is now investigating the viral prank as a trespassing incident. As the “Hollyweed” sing remained for 9 hours before authorities could take it down. But they still don’t have a suspect.

Possible suspect.

Even though the responsible was caught on security cameras. No one still knows who did the amazing prank. But a possible responsible appeared online, Steve-O. As he posted on his Facebook and Twitter that he was amazed and somehow proud of the prank. And as we know him and his stunts he could’ve perfectly been the one who pulled the prank.

New year, old tricks.

Despite the alteration has gone viral, and praised, it’s not the first time the sign is changed to “Hollyweed.” As it has previously happened in 1976 and 1983. As in the case of 1976, it was a prank by Cal State Northridge art student Danny Finegood, who logically got an A. He also pulled it off on New Year’s Day.  The day California loosened marijuana laws in the state.

Better year.

As the prank has taken the world by surprise, it seems that also has made it a better place. Not only for the snappiness of the joke. But because it has proven that despite all the bad things humanity still has the time and sense of humor to make things better. And to give people a break off the seriousness and sad things about 2016.
