Drake Iconic More Life Album Isn’t Eligible for 2018 Grammy Consideration

He Didn’t Even Submit The Album

Drake didn’t submit his ‘More Life’ album for 2018 Grammy Awards. The news broke earlier this week, saying the rapper even ignored all individual song categories.

The nominations for the 2018 Grammys will be announced on November 28. The show will take place at Madison Square Garden in New York on January 28, 2018.

Not thinking much about the Grammys

Despite being nominated for a Grammy 35 times before, winning three and even have a song called ‘Grammys,’ Drake is not giving much thought to it and reportedly didn’t submit his more recent record to this year’s run.

Reports broke this week saying the rapper didn’t submit his album ‘More Life,‘ and also ignored all individual song categories, despite the album being released within the eligibility period.

‘More Life’ made quite a splash back in March when it was released, not only it debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Also, Drake broke released day records being streamed more than 60 millions times on Spotify alone.

While Drake’s reason for not submitting to the Grammy is unclear, he’s been critical of the awards show in the past. In fact, he skipped the ceremony earlier this year, even when he won several trophies.

“Even though ‘Hotline Bling’ is not a rap song, the only category they can manage to fit me in is a rap category,” he said back in February.

“Maybe because I’ve rapped in the past or because I’m black, I can’t figure out why. I won two awards last night, but I don’t even want them because it just feels weird for some reason.”

The rapper, like many other rappers, has been critical on the Academy treatment of the genre. Last year, Frank Ocean declined to nominate either of the albums he released for Grammy consideration, despite being a strong contestant.

“That institution certainly has nostalgic importance,” Ocean told the New York Times.

“It just doesn’t seem to be representing very well for people who come from where I come from. Or hold down what I hold down.”

Re-Bar Mitzvah, because why not?

Drake celebrated his 31st birthday on October 25. He celebrated big time by throwing himself a re-bar mitzvah. Including some of the biggest stars of the industry.

While he’s famous for honoring special people on important dates, he’s also famous for knowing how to party, and his 31st birthday was no exception. The greatest proof is his Instagram page, which is treasure trove of photos from his big party, alongside Swae Lee, Leonardo DiCaprio, Hailey Baldwin, Madison Beer, Tobey Maguire, and of course his own dad, Dennis Graham.
