Movies are great. Cinema is even considered as the seventh art. Movies entertain us with incredible stories, dazzle us with incredible scenes and images, makes us feel and more. Due to this and probably many other things we loved them so much.
But even though there are many cool movies around there are, as everything in life, some legendary ones. These are usually referred as ‘cult movies’ because they mark generations and history. One of the greatest ‘cult movie’ of recent times is Donnie Darko.
Donnie Darker.
A true brain-melting movie. That shows the depressed life of an odd teenager, spiced up with sci-fi elements, Echo & the Bunnymen or Joy Division, and the murdering of a time traveling bunny. As we saw real and deep sci-fi elements on the film of a high school drama. Even though high school is more fiction than reality sometimes.
The film also shows how a six-foot-tall rabbit, who is Donnie’s imaginary friend, tells him that the world will end in 28 days. To what everybody thinks that Donnie’s going mad. For all of this and many other reasons, the movie was a hit and it’s preparing to be it so today. As a way to commemorate its 15th anniversary, the movie will be re-released on theaters.
To the movies with Frank in the early 2000’s.
The re-released of the movie will not only feature the movie rolling on silver screens again. Since a 4k restoration has been done to the film. It also has the remastered trailer above, so you can compare it with the old one, making the picture a bit more disturbing. For those who saw it and are remembering it and for those who are still unaware of it.
The film will be played again since March 31, but it will have a premiere on March 30 at the Vista Theatre in LA. With the original cast and directors attending to it. The movie will play weeklong engagements at Cinefamily in Los Angeles and the Metrograph in New York. Also, the movie will then expand and be available in Denver, Columbus, Pittsburgh, Phoenix, and San Francisco, Jacksonville, Austin, Dallas, and Baton Rouge.
Worthy of a second watch.
Even though nobody really knows what the movie is completely about it’s still amazing. Really deserves a second watch. Especially to catch up with many things you didn’t get, the conspiracy theories and to try to understand the whole thing.
Both the theatrical cut and the director’s cut will be available to watch on the theaters. Due to a partnership with Cartilage Films, whose website has full list of cinemas screening the film.
