I Swear To God, This Man Never Seizes To Amaze Me

Bill Murray is going full artsy with a new musical project. The comedian is bringing his music and spark with New Worlds, a cool mix of songs, literature and chamber music.Murray teamed up with acclaimed cellist Jan Vogler in the project, which will premiere July 20th at the  Napa Valley Festival in California.

Bill’s new project it’s all about mixing music with literature

Bill Murray is teaming up with acclaimed cellist Jan Vogler, violinist Mira Wang and pianist Vanessa Perez in this new and exciting project.

New Worlds brings together the very best in the music with the very best in literature, all taking place at the same time. This way it combines poetry, chamber music, and the Great American Songbook.

When it comes to the music the songs include from Van Morrison, West Side Story, and Gershwin. On the readings include Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn as well as Whitman’s poems, and the very best from Hemingway.

The project finds Murray reading while the trio plays music in the back. We can expect a lot of expression and passion from the beloved actor. How did all this start? Well, Jan Vogler and Murray met on an international flight and since both share the passion for the music they instantly clicked together.

In an interview, Vogler found himself talking about Murray,  “He is so musical and would whistle a tune as soon as I would mention it. We found our common favorites and started talking about literature. It was surprising how much we agreed on the choices of both literature and music.”

The project started coming together as two more members joined in. The now four members group explores issues such as identity and American history. The project became a convergence point for the musicians who are from different continents each, the United States, China, East Germany and Venezuela.

Murray said, “We are from four different continents, and when the continents come together, the music moves right across the peninsulas from one to the other. It’s just a short journey from one continent to the other.”

For the comedian working with such skilled musicians was a challenge, he said, “When they start playing, the demand is so great that if you’re attending to who you are right now, it brings out something that you couldn’t have visualized or planned for.”

An album is already in the works, but for now, the project will premiere in July at the Napa Valley Festival to continue on a North America tour. In October, it will get to Carnegie Hall in October.

Only someone as cool as Bill Murray could create this Project

Bill Murray’s definitely one of the coolest guys on earth, he’s just so lively and honest is almost unbelievable. He definitely makes our lives better on and off screens. There are many stories to tell of Murray’s unique ways and eccentricities and they just keep getting better.

One of this awesome stories includes a taxi driver that picked him up in Oakland and they found themselves engaged in a conversation. As the talk goes, Murray learns the driver has a saxophone in the trunk. The comedian then asks the driver to pull off and let him drive so that he can listen to the way he plays the saxophone. They ended up eating at a BBQ place late at night.

And these stories are endless, in fact, there’s a website dedicated to Bill Murray’s stories where you can share your own Bill Murray story if you’re lucky enough to have it. The great thing about these stories is that they all portray Murray’s unique way to make strangers’ lives even better, a littler bit weirder and definitely stranger.
