Gallup just did a survey which evaluated 48 cities in the U.S in the best “active living environments” by looking at bike lanes, public transit, parks and the level to which each city was walkable. With this data, they ranked which cities are most effective in helping citizens live actively, and apparently larger cities ranked way higher than smaller ones, check out the cities who topped the list.
1. Boston
This city ranked as the top “active living community” and according to researchers, is the result of investments in public areas such as parks and bike lanes.
2. San Francisco
San Francisco ranked 2nd place; the top-ranked cities have significantly lower rates of smoking, obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure according to Gallup.

And having lower rates in negative health conditions means having higher rates of exercise, healthy eating, fresh produce consumption.
4. New York
