Uma Thurman Talks About Harvey Weinstein Joining The #MeToo Movement

Thurman Worked With Weinstein On Seven Projects

Uma Thruman joined #MeToo and posted a message to Harvey Weinstein. The actress took social media on Thursday and sent a pretty cryptic message to the Hollywood mogul.

While Thurman opened up about the ongoing sexual harassment scandal in Hollywood and said she would no longer be “inactive” at it. On the other hand, director Quentin Tarantino admitted he knew about the allegations long before.

There’s a new Kill Bill list

Early on Thanksgiving Day, Thurman took to Instagram to post a somehow threatening message, promising revenge to Harvey Weinstein.

“I am grateful today, to be alive, for all those I love, and for all those who have the courage to stand up for others,” she started the post.

The actress also revealed she had her own experience with misconduct and that more was coming for those who had wronged her.

“I said I was angry recently, and I have a few reasons, #metoo, in case you couldn’t tell by the look on my face.”

“I feel it’s important to take your time, be fair, be exact, so … Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! (Except you Harvey, and all your wicked conspirators — I’m glad it’s going slowly — You don’t deserve a bullet). Stay tuned.”

Thurman worked with Weinstein on seven projects, including the ‘Kill Bill’ films and ‘Pulp Fiction’. And her message shows she took time to choose everything on it quite selectively.

The photo she posted comes from a moment in ‘Kill Bill Vol. 2’ where the vengeful Bride lays out her plan:

“Bill’s last bullet put me in a coma. A coma I was to lie in for four years. When I woke up, I went on what the movie advertisements refer to as a ‘roaring rampage of revenge.’ I roared.”

“And I rampaged. And I got bloody satisfaction. I’ve killed a hell of a lot of people to get to this point, but I have only one more. The last one. The one I’m driving to right now. The only one left. And when I arrive at my destination, I am gonna kill Bill.”

Though she suggested we all “stay tuned,” Thurman had already taken a dramatic step.

Choosing the time to come forward

Uma Thurman made the headlines last month after she was asked by a reporter to comment on the Weinstein allegations. Instead of commenting, Thurman seethed and then minced her words.

“I don’t have a tidy soundbite for you.” She paused and then continued,

“because … I’ve learned that when I have spoken in anger, I usually regret the way that I have expressed myself.”

“So I’ve been waiting to feel less angry. And when I’m ready, I’ll say what I have to say.”

Weinstein is accused by dozens of women of sexual harassment or sexual assaults, including rape. Allegations against him have caused a snowball effect, with other Hollywood male figures being accused of sexual misconduct.

He was fired by The Weinstein Co. and expelled from various professional guilds. He denies all allegations of non-consensual sex but has apologized for causing “a lot of pain” with “the way I’ve behaved with colleagues in the past.”

More recently, it was revealed that Weinstein not only tried to settle deals to cover up his behavior but also took to force and surveillance of his victims to prevent them from talking.

Tarantino on the Weinstein scandal

When the Weinstein scandal first made the headlines, director Quentin Tarantino first commented on the allegations in a tweet posted by Amber Tamblyn, in which he said he was “stunned” and “heartbroken” and would need a couple days to “process his emotions.”

Harvey Weinstein launched Tarantino’s career after acquiring ‘Reservoir Dogs’ out of the Sundance Film Festival in 1992. From that moment, Weinstein went on to produce every Tarantino film since, and most recently, ‘The Hateful Eight.’

A few weeks later, in a long conversation with the New York Times, Tarantino divulged,

“I knew enough to do more than I did,” and elaborated.

“There was more to it than just the normal rumors, the normal gossip. It wasn’t secondhand. I knew he did a couple of these things.”

“I wish I had taken responsibility for what I heard. If I had done the work I should have done then, I would have had to not work with him.”

“What I did was marginalize the incidents,” he said.

“Anything I say now will sound like a crappy excuse…I chalked it up to a ’50s-’60s era image of a boss chasing a secretary around the desk. As if that’s O.K. That’s the egg on my face right now.”

Tarantino’s former girlfriend, Mira Sorvino, was one of Weinstein’s accusers. According to Tarantino, she had told him about Weinstein’s unwanted advances and touching.

Tarantino says he also knew Rose McGowan had reached a settlement with the producer.
