Zoe Saldana, Julianne Moore, and Sia are bringing attention to HIV awareness. The trio joined in the singer’s heartfelt video ‘Free Me’ released on Thursday. Sia released her latest video and as usual, she delivered a heart wrenching and captivating, piece.
The video tells the story of a pregnant woman diagnosed with HIV. Zoe Saldana and Julianne Moore jumped in the dramatic story each playing a part.
An emotional piece
While Zoe portrays the mother, Julianne narrates the story filled with beautiful dramatic visuals and, of course, an emotional dance choreography. The video opens with Zoe’s character receiving her diagnosis before fading into an interpretative dance routine which gives all the feels and chills.
As usual, Sia doesn’t appear in the video but rather gives her powerful voice to the story and sings the emotional lyrics “Oh free me from this shame I’ve been running from, I’m lost and I am calling you,” Sia sings during the powerful chorus.
The video ends with Saldana holding her newborn with optimism and the message that HIV/AIDS is the No. 1 killer of reproductive age women worldwide.
Making a stand for HIV awareness
The singer always manages to touch our souls with her amazing voice and heartfelt lyrics, and also by using music videos as a way to really reach the audience. Last September, Sia released the powerful video for her single ‘The Greatest’, which paid tribute to the Orlando nightclub shooting victims. This time the diva is using music videos not only as an emotional platform but also to bring awareness and raise funds for people in need.
Free Me is the second single Sia releases this year. Last May, she released To Be Human featuring Labrinth, which is part of Wonder Woman soundtrack list.
Proceeds from the song will be donated to the #endHIV campaign, which, in collaboration with the Abzyme Research Foundation, raises funds to commercially manufacture an effective HIV vaccine to FDA standards. Sia,
Sia, Moore, and Saldana are among the celebrity ambassadors partnering with #endHIV to meet fundraising efforts. ‘Free Me’ is available for download and streaming starting Friday.
The powerful video was directed by Blake Martin and Ryan Heffington, who have teamed up with Sia in previous projects. Including Chandelier, Cheap Thrills, and The Greatest choreographed the video.
