What To Expect From This Year’s SD Comic-Con?

Fans Can’t Wait For The Upcoming Surprises That Marvel Has Been Promising.

San Diego Comic-Con is kicking off this Thursday. This year’s annual pop culture gathering is bringing some goods. Anticipated trailers, panels and more for fans to celebrate.

This year’s Comic-Con will bring rivals Marvel and Dc. Netflix is bringing some big stars for announcements, and Fox is coming back after a while.

Marvel is ready to unveil some surprises

There was some skepticism as to whether Marvel would show at SDCC this year. Since the last few years, the company has skipped the convention and hosted its own D23 Expo, as it did this year. But the Disney-owned movie studio will be there in full force.

On Saturday a 90 minutes panel will be held, and as for trailers, there’s much to come.

Marvel already dropped an exclusive teaser trailer of ‘Avengers: Infinity War‘ at D23 last weekend and may release it to the public this week.

San Diego’s streets are adorned with banners for ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ and ‘Black Panther‘, so fans should expect some news, and possibly footage, from both films. The studio also has ‘Ant-Man & The Wasp’ and ‘Captain Marvel’ slated for 2018 and 2019, respectively.

As for DC, fresh off the heels of its first critical and commercial success in its up-and-coming cinematic universe, ‘Wonder Woman‘. It will likely try to use that momentum to propel fans into its slate of upcoming movies.

We’re expecting a new trailer for ‘Justice League’, due out in November, and possibly a first look at ‘Aquaman’ during the Warner Bros. on Saturday.

Fox fans are hoping for an anticipated sneak peek of ‘Deadpool 2.’ ‘New Mutants’ and an X-Men movie are also due out next year. But it looks like Fox will be promoting its upcoming sequel ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ during its panel on Thursday.

Charlize Theron will be at the convention to promote Focus Features’s ‘Atomic Blonde’ with a panel on Saturday afternoon in Hall H, too.

As for TV shows and streaming

Netflix which is now in the movie business will be on hand. It’s holding a panel for Netflix Films on Thursday, where it will debut exclusive footage of David Ayer’s upcoming sci-fi thriller ‘Bright’, starring Will Smith. A first-look at ‘Death Note’ is also expected, which is based on a famous Japanese manga.

Expect new footage from the upcoming season of Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things’ on Saturday, too. The streaming service will give an exclusive first-look at ‘Marvel’s The Defenders’ on Friday.

The stars of HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones‘, which premiered its seventh season last weekend, will sit on a panel on Friday afternoon. On Saturday, the stars of ‘Westworld’ will also sit on a panel.

On Friday, there will be a panel for Showtime’s ‘Twin Peaks’ revival. A Q&A session of CBS’s ‘The Big Bang Theory’ will be held on Friday.

And Sunday will bring an exclusive look at the BBC’s upcoming ‘Doctor Who‘ Christmas special, the last to feature Peter Capaldi.
