Hotel Transylvania was one of the most adorable, beautiful and fun movies in recent times. Now the animated series’ release date has been announced, as it was promised before. The date was confirmed Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana and Sony Pictures Animation. The announcement was first hinted in 2015 during the promotion of the second film installment.
The new animated series will bring back all the characters from the hit franchise but they change a bit the animation style, into a more traditional 2D one that still captures the aesthetic of the films. Also, the series will be set in a timeline previous to the first movie, working as a prequel to the ‘monstrous’ franchise.
Vampire business
The shorts follows Mavis, her friends and her dad Dracula. As he prepares to join the Vampire Council and she tries to prove herself to her dad. Focusing on the teen years of Mavis and her friends, Hank N Stein, Pedro, and Wendy Blob. Obviously, in the time mischievous, adventures and silly situations are at the order of the day. The official synopsis of the show says:
“With Dracula away on “Official Vampire Business,” Mavis finally sees her chance to show her father what she can do. With the help of her friends, she decides to put her brilliant ideas of how to run the Hotel into motion, but enter Aunt Lydia, Dracula’s older and much meaner sister. While Mavis and friends are ready to let loose and have fun, Aunt Lydia pushes for even more order and tradition at the Hotel”.
Monstrous debut records
Hotel Transylvania is one of the most beloved monster comedies. Being nominated for a Golden Globe and scoring the best September opening of all time at the U.S. box office, twice. Since the second installment overcame the record set by the first one. Also, the animated series will be the TV debut of the animated franchise. This will give Disney some power muscle, as Scott Dyer, Nelvana president said. “we are excited to (…) bring the world of Hotel Transylvania to the small screen and family-friendly digital platforms”.
The animated series of Hotel Transylvania will consist of 26 episodes of a 22 minutes length. The show will premiere on June 25th at 8 pm, airing a new episode each night. The first episode will air on the Disney Channel app, YouTube, and VOD on Tuesday, June 20th. The cartoon will also work to create hype and promote the upcoming “Hotel Transylvania 3”. That is being directed by Genndy Tartakovsky (the mastermind behind Samurai Jack, Dexter’s Laboratory, and the PowerPuff Girls).
