Why Is It So Hard?: Start Living In The Present

Even Though It Is Very Hard, You Should Start As Soon As Possible

Has it ever happened to you that you can’t seem to enjoy the present moment? It’s like your body is here now, but your mind is somewhere else. Maybe in a past moment or imagining a future one. So what makes the present so difficult to live, and the past or future so easy to dwell on?

The thing is that the past appears to us as more enjoyable, because what we see as past it’s an improved, edited version of what actually happened.

Our mind works creating those better versions of moments, in order to preserve the memory and the space of it.

The endless possibilities of the present often overwhelm us, and we feel anxious. This is why we manage to emerge in our memories because memories have fixed actions and we already know what occurred. It’s as we go to our safe haven in order to avoid the anxiety of the present moment.

It’s not just the feelings that make us wander somewhere far away from the present. See, our bodies also contribute. They have itineraries, and they work in a specific way. So maybe you’re watching the most amazing dawn, and suddenly you feel tired, it’s just your body asking for some rest.

Our minds are always working, and they’re quite chaotic. So must of the time they’re doing a lot of things at the same time, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t care about the present moment. It’s just the way it is. We must accept this in ourselves and be kind enough to allow it also to other people.
