Beer Yoga Is Now A Thing And We’re Going Crazy About It.

You Had Me At Beer.

Yoga meets beer to help us reach a higher level of consciousness, this new trend is going worldwide. Beer yoga, the trendy practice in Germany, is now taking the Australian shores where yogi Jhula will lead two sessions over the weekend.

Two of the most ancient therapies come together in beer yoga. The refreshing taste of beer with the relaxing yoga poses come together to prove that they can both be even better. After all, these two practices are healing ones, why not mix them together?

Beer + Yoga = Healthy way to reach Self-transcendence.

Beer Yoga started in Germany when yogi Jhula decided to incorporate her beers with some vinyasa sequences. She performed the standard poses and tried to figure out everywhere she could work a beer in there. As result, she came up with a double dose of relaxing activities.

During the session, the attendants balance the beer bottles over their heads and even practice “beer salutations.” There are two goals: first, to successfully incorporate the beer bottle to the vinyasa poses.  And second, to reach a higher level of consciousness with a little help of the golden elixir.

New yoga alternatives.

Mixing yoga and drinking is actually not as crazy as it seems. These two activities share the same goal, which is relaxing the mind and body, so they go perfectly together! Also, these alternatives to traditional yoga are a good way to bring people to the mat.

The trend is also getting to the US, where some yoga teachers incorporate the drinking after the poses are done. Actually, in Northern Virginia, Erin Sonn offers “Yoga+Beer,” an initiative to take yoga classes in nontraditional places such as breweries. And you can enjoy a good cold beer after the class!

After conquering Berlin, Jhula now takes the Aussie shores and brings this holy marriage of old centuries therapies to beer and yoga enthusiasts. The event will take place in Sydney this weekend. Its description says “It’s an hour-long session of yoga with a twist”. Hell yeah, not only you’ll relax with the vinyasa, but you’ll also get some precious golden elixir best known as beer.
