Adele fans took to Twitter to express their anger over the singer canceling the last two shows in London, which were set over the weekend. The singer canceled the shows for health issues.
This sad news wrapped up a difficult week for Adele fans, who earlier in the weekend learned the singer was considering to perform her very last show.
Fans were not having it
Last Friday, Adele announced in an emotional post that she was forced to cancel the gigs set for the weekend in London Wembley.
The cancellation came as the singer had been struggling vocally and damaged her vocal cords. She had originally been scheduled to play on Friday and Saturday but added extra dates due to high demand.
She told fans: “I had to push a lot harder than I normally do. It turns out I have damaged my vocal chords. And on medical advice, I am simply unable to perform over the weekend. To say I’m heartbroken would be an understatement.”
With the last two London dates the singer wrapped up the 15 months global tour with 123 dates in support of her acclaimed album ’25.’
A refund is expected to be done but no information about shows being rescheduled has been said.
Angry fans took to social media to express their thoughts on the show being canceled.
While some were rather comprehensive, others were frustrated at the singer saying that she ‘has zero work ethic’ and that it was greedy booking the extra dates if actually performing at them was beyond her capability.
The last tour
Controversy surrounded the singer even before the sudden cancellation of the last two dates of the world tour. Adele had hinted that her current tour for her Grammy-winning album ’25’ might be her very last.
Then things got real.
A signed, handwritten note tucked inside the program for the Wednesday night show at Wembley Stadium said, “I don’t know if I’ll ever tour again and so I want my last time to be at home,”
She went on explaining, “Touring is a peculiar thing, it doesn’t suit me particularly well.”
“I’m a real homebody and I get so much joy in the small things. Plus, I’m dramatic and have a terrible history of touring. Until now that is!” it read.
In an interview with Vanity Fair magazine last year, she said she would be happy if she never had to tour again. “I’d still like to make records, but I’d be fine if I never heard (the applause) again. I’m on tour simply to see everyone who’s been so supportive. I don’t care about money.”
