This rape culture awareness video is giving the internet something to talk about.
Trump’s presidential campaign has been a race to exceed the shock of one scandal after another. But it got to its climax when an old audio tape surfaced, showing a talking Trump discussing physical contact with women in an inappropriate way.
The Republican nominee discussed how he liked to treat girls when in a sexual situation and some of the comments he made are seen as misogynistic due to the objectification of women. Now Buzzfeed released a video, discussing rape culture and showing how girls feel when men decide they are nothing more than a sexual object.
The released audio was justified as “locker room talk” as if the way Trump talks and addresses to women is something acceptable
This is shocking since it makes people think forcing woman into sexual assault is ok and contributes to rape culture.
In case you don’t know it, rape culture is a setting in which rape is persuasive and even normalized due to social attitudes about gender and sexuality.
“You’re not entitled to my body” is a video that hopes to create conscious about rape culture.
In the video, different girls tell stories about situations in which they have been somehow molested:
Being grabbed inappropriately
Forcing them to have sex
Simply saying dirty things to them
Women are more than just the sum of their parts. They don’t have to be in your family to deserve respect
Acting as if these lascivious attitudes and actions towards women are a normal thing for a guy to do, is embracing rape culture.
