An unknown woman whom the police have not identified by name has returned Lady Gaga’s two stolen bulldogs on Friday after they were stolen on Wednesday night. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the unidentified woman brought the dogs to the LAPD’s Olympic station on Friday evening and claimed she found them tied to a pole.
“The woman found the dogs and reached out to Lady Gaga’s staff to return them,” LAPD wrote on its Facebook page. “The woman’s identity and the location the dogs were found will remain confidential due to the active criminal investigation and for her safety.”
Since Lady Gaga is currently in Rome, her representatives and police detectives visited the LAPD’s Olympic station to identify the dogs and ultimately confirmed that they belong to the singer. The woman who brought the dogs had used the recovery email provided by Gaga to inform her team of the dogs, and she was coordinated to take them to the police station.
An internal source said Lady Gaga will be glad to release the $500,000 reward she promised to whoever found her dogs. The source said the singer will release the funds as soon as she can since she is currently out of the country.
According to Captain Jonathan Tippet, head of the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division, the authorities are still investigating the theft and would not be quick to speculate that the woman is connected to the robbers who stole the dogs. He said he will not disclose the identity of the woman yet or the exact location where the dogs were found for security reasons since investigations are still ongoing on the incident.
An eyewitness who saw the dog robbery, Carlos Pantoja, said he was inside his house watching TV when he heard a man shout for help. Pantoja said he rushed to his balcony to see two men jump out of a white Nissan Altima and demanded Lady Gaga’s dog-walker, Ryan Fischer, to hand over the three dogs he had with him. The eyewitness said Fischer struggled with the men and then one of them produced a gun and shot him in the chest before fleeing the scene with two of the three dogs.
Pantoja said he rushed to Fischer’s side when he heard him screaming that he’d been shot and was almost passing out. Pantoja said he met another person with whom he assisted Fischer before calling 911. An Amazon Ring camera that Pantoja installed on his porch captured much of the shooting incident and the footage was supplied to law enforcement officials for investigation.
Analysts said it appears the robbers only intended to steal the dogs without realizing they belonged to a celebrity. They must have realized that the dogs were pure breeds and that their market value would be high. It seemed they only knew the dogs belonged to Lady Gaga after committing the robbery and reading about the $500k reward in the papers.
