Tristan Thompson’s Mother Dies of Heart Attack; Khloé Kardashian Offers Support

NBA star Tristan Thompson has lost his mother to a heart attack. Tristan’s mother, Andrea Thompson, died at her Toronto home on Thursday, and the basketball superstar flew off from Los Angeles to be with his family in Canada on Friday afternoon.

Tristan’s former wife, Khloé Kardashian, has also flown to join him in Canada to offer emotional and physical support to the basketball player. Khloe shares her 4-year-old daughter True and a 5-month-old son with Tristan. A source said she was very close to Tristan’s mother and that the entire Kardashian clan will be available to support him.

“This was unexpected,” the source added. “She was incredibly close to his mother, and like Khloé and the Kardashian family always do, they will come together and support their loved ones in their most difficult time of need. Tristan is the father of Khloé’s kids, and she and her entire family will always be there for him.”

Tristan is also father to one-year-old son Theo with Maralee Nichols and 6-year-old son Prince with Jordan Craig. Khloé reportedly said she and her family will be on the ground to “comfort and help him navigate what will be a very difficult time” even though she and Tristan are now separated.

Born by a truck driver dad and school bus driver mom, Tristan said in a 2020 Mother’s Day interview that Andrea is instrumental to his success as a professional basketballer in the leagues of LeBron James. He recalled an instance where his mother drove through a blizzard while breastfeeding his younger brother Daniel in order for him to reach a basketball game at all costs.

“It was a blizzard, it was terrible,” Tristan recalled. “My mom is a school bus driver so she knows how to handle the roads and everything. Daniel was crying, and he wouldn’t stop, so I think he was hungry. Seeing her do that and be just a warrior and a champ and how much she was willing to sacrifice for me to get to that tournament so I could go play and do something that I love. I mean, it just shows her love and passion for her kids.”

And when Tristan won fourth overall in the 2011 NBA draft, Andrew said her son had always been zealous in life for success.

“Trevor is a truck driver,” she stated. “I drive a school bus. We work hard. In life you have to work hard to receive your blessing, everybody knows that. Tristan saw us always working hard, and he wanted to get ahead.”

In 2016, Tristan played for the Cleveland Cavaliers alongside LeBron James to conquer the Golden State Warriors for the NBA championship. He also played for Sacramento Kings and Boston Celtics. He played for the Chicago Bulls in the 2021-2022 NBA season before leaving to source for a new team.
