Sunday night was amazing! A lot of things went down at the American Music Awards. Politics, great performances, touching speeches and so much more, the AMA’s really had it all.
We made a list of the 15 best and worst moments of the show, it’s a must watch in case you missed it:
15. Ariana Grande won Artist of The Year.
She totally deserved it, but the greatest part was to see the look on her grandma’s face. It was everything!
14. Fifth Harmony got cut off.
Not off the show but they cut the girl’s acceptance speech. The AMA people must have forgotten that they were 5 and needed time to thank a lot of people. That was really wrong.
13. The awkward opening monologue.
Jay Pharoah and Gigi Hadid made impressions of Donald and Melania Trump, it wasn’t very good and made no sense.
12. Halsey, The Chainsmokers and Travis Barker.
The Chainsmokers and Halsey performed their song “Closer” which was great, but the best part was when Blink 182 Travis Barker appeared during the song that makes a reference to him.
11. Jay Pharoah rants Kanye.
It seems like he was trying too hard. He’s usually funny but not this time. Sorry bro.
10. Shawn Mendes’s performance.
He made a mix of his songs “Treat You Better” and “Mercy” and it was perfect.
9. Drake won an AMA for the first time.
On his acceptance speech, the rapper made a reference about Degrassi because Nina Dobrev introduced him and he was also on the show.
8. Niall Horan performed solo.
He sang his new single “This Town” it was more than you would have expected. Plus he looked extra hot.
7. The Weeknd in another galaxy.
The artist performed his single “Starboy” and not only the vocals were great but the stage looked like it was out of this world.
6. Idina Menzel on Trump.
She remembered Trump’s panic attack over the Mike Pence/Hamilton incident.
5. 21 Pilots took the stage.
The duo proved they sound even better when they perform live, they played”Heathens” and “Stressed Out”.
4. Drake’s Ad for Apple Music.
The rapper cracked us all up when he sang along to Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” on the revealing of new Apple Music ad.
3. Lady Gaga went country.
The singer performed Joanne, her latest single that’s a bit country with her guitar. Something that we are not used to.
2. Selena Gomez’s acceptance speech.
The artist stood on the stage for the first time since she announced her time off the music industry to focus on her mental health issues. It was a very moving speech.
1. Green Day against Trump.
In the middle of their performance while they were playing “Bang! Bang!” the musicians chanted “NO TRUMP, NO KKK, NO FASCIST USA.”
