Stan Lee is and idol, responsible for Marvel’s beloved characters. If you love Thor, Spiderman, Hulk, The Fantastic Four (just to mention a few) then you should be happy and send him a birthday card because the geek icon turned 94 years old!
The new yorker discovered his passion for stories and movies at a very young age but he started writing when he was a teenager creating press releases and obituaries, I know, totally unexpected right? But after graduation, he entered Timely Comics and that’s when the magic started.
His career began in the 60’s.
When he began working it was all standard, but during the 1960’s he teamed up with artist Jack Kirby to create one of the most famous teams of heroes: The Fantastic Four. It was a total hit. He unleashed an era of comic books that hasn’t stop yet.
The stories made him who he is.
His real name is Stanley Martin Lieber, but since his first publication, he signed as Stan Lee, due to the success of his characters everyone knew him this way, making him change his name for good.
Stan created new standards for the characters.
He wanted to create relatable heroes, so he made them human, they all have a weak spot and a curious thing about them is that he insists on calling them, by both, their names and last names with the same letter, Peter Parker, Reed Richards, Pepper Potts, Bruce Banner and the list goes on and on.
Lee is responsible for Marvel’s expansion.
Every single Marvel movie starts with “presented by Stan Lee” since he’s an executive producer in all of them. He created Iron Man, X-men, The Avengers and much more. You can also see him in cameos in the movies, but his love for stories goes further. The writer also wrote some stories for DC Comics and had a show in History Channel dedicated to finding real life superheroes.
He’s legacy is everlasting.
Born on December 28, 1922, Stan has created timeless stories that keep our attention and amaze us every time. He’s unstoppable, just this year Marvel will release three movies, but take a look at the best ones:
4. The Fantastic Four.
This might not be a great movie but Lee plays an actual character and not just a regular cameo, he is Willie Lumpkin, the Fantastic Four’s postman.
5. The Amazing Spired-Man.
In this movie, Lee appears as a librarian at Midtown High.
3. Hulk
Stan plays a security guard with former Hulk who also appears as a guard. Wait what? Too much to handle, I know.
2. The Avengers: Age of Ultron
He was warned by Thor not to drink, but he didn’t care and got super drunk.
1. Iron Man
Playing Hugh Hefner, Stann Lee appears accompanied by two ladies.
