The 90’s was the great last decade. At least for many and for pop culture since it had its own fashion trend, music movements, crisis, and so on. Music probably being its key component. Due to the birth of Grunge, Alternative Rock, Pop-Punk and many other waves.
As time has gone by it seems that all of those iconic tunes that defined and era have turned into classics, and not in a good way. As obviously all these songs are eternal due to their awesomeness. Nevertheless, they’ve been turned into classics by sending them into the oldies sections. Something we highly disagree, as it makes us all feel extremely old. So here are 5 “classic” songs from the 90’s that are wrongly been called older than they’re.
5.Sum 41
Like come on, these guys can’t be in the oldies section. Even though they started in the 90’s most of their success was through the early 2000’s. Besides 20 years is still a fairly young age, and all the guys from the band still look the same.
4.Linking Park
This is literally one of the most nonsense things anyone can hear/read/post or whatever. Linkin Park are still one of the most relevant and successful bands. Yes, they’ve been on the scene for a time, but not to the point of the “oldies section.” Despite they do have some classic songs.
3.Blink-182
Really, like really? This is kind of the same “Sum 41” thing, but it makes even less sense. Since Blink has have released tons of new music, changed their line-up, producer and for some their sound. Despite all of it, they’ve got plenty of new younger fans and still embody the spirit of “young-dumb Californian dudes.” They even have their own social war of “Team Tom,” and “Team without Tom.”
2. Smashing Pumpkins
Ok, this is probably one of the few ones we can understand, due to everything Smashing Pumpkins achieved. Even though it’s still very wrong. They came out on the 90’s and Billy Corgan is still touring and releasing new music.
1.Nirvana
Once again one of the “understandable” mistakes. Since Nirvana are a legendary band that defined an era and were pioneers of the Grunge genre. Along with Cobain being recognized one of the last great rock stars. Yes, they do have some of the most iconic rock anthems of all times but that’s not reason enough. The 90’s wasn’t so long ago so just quit it. We are not that old, right?
