Sega Lovers Can Now Enjoy A Brand New LP With Their Favorite Soundtracks.

Data Discs announced the releasement of an album with Sonny The Hedgehog’s soundtrack. The soundtrack will be released in vinyl and will be available in July. And as if the iconic video game music wasn’t enough, the company also announced that soon every Sega game will be available to play for free on your cell phone.

An LP for all of those Sonic Maniacs

Given that this is ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’s birthday weekend’, it wasn’t exactly a shock that Sega had something special to announce as part of the celebration. The company is teaming up with Sega once again, to release an exclusive album for ‘The Blue Blur’s’, Sonic Mania.

The album will feature select tracks by Tee Lopes, Sonic Mania’s composer. Containing exclusive gatefold artwork, and it comes in three different styles: Sonic Blue, Classic Black, and a Limited Edition version.

Pre-orders will open in late July at Data Discs’ official site, just before the game’s release the following month. More details will follow, but for now, feel free to check out the first pics of the album below. The records will be available in three different editions: a classic black, a translucent blue, and a limited edition, details for which have yet to be released.

Like other Data Discs releases, the Sonic Mania LP will be packaged in a heavyweight gatefold sleeve with a UV spot varnish. And will feature new artwork which is exclusive to this release.

Furthermore, the inner sleeve will feature a print with a handful of characters from the game, and every purchase will come bundled with a download code. Granting customers access to both lossy versions of the soundtrack.

All those Sega games in your smartphone

‘Sega Forever’ also stepped in to make a cool announcement. The company said that soon you’ll get to play their old and fun video games on your smartphone. The game will include the Master System, Genesis/Mega Drive, Dreamcast, and others.  The app will be available on both Android and iOS systems.

However, not every game will be available right away and the company will release the games slowly. The release will follow this order: Altered Beast, Comix Zone, Kid Chameleon, Phantasy Star II, and Sonic The Hedgehog. It will then release games every two weeks.

“We’ve never before done something that really crosses all of the different gaming eras, and isn’t prejudice against someone because they grew up in the ’80s versus the ’90s,” Sega executive Mike Evans. “And so what we’re trying to do is look at how we can take content that spans two decades and make it all available in the same place,” he added.
